I happily buy ‘good’ second hand shoes for my girls as they have generally been worn only lightly and the previous owner has not changed the foot bed of the shoe. I have also purchased second hand Saltwater sandals and let my girls wear them in the sea and then walk around until they are dry so they soften and shape to their foot.
Older shoes I…[Read more]

@katybellabug it is way too fast 🙁
I finished the Lisette Attache peplum top in neoprene (scuba knit) for Elsa.
It was a great fabric to sew but not fun to unpick, the stitches ‘sunk in’. I did make a calico muslin first and also did the petite adjustment and scooped out the neck…[Read more] -

As parents quickly learn, small children’s shoes are outgrown while there’s still a lot of life left in them. Depending on habits (at one point, my daughter was using the top of the toe as a brake when tricycling, ruining shoes quickly) and frequency of wear (during the school year only two pairs of shoes get much wear) the shoes might be…[Read more]

Haha. I love momster though!
I fear my children have been cursed with bad feet. Mine grew in pregnancy from ladies 4-5. It’s like a 32 until I had them. The kids will have similar struggles finding age appropriate shoes as they get older. Mr Sunshine has really wide small feet. WeeGee has feet with heels so narrow that we either have…[Read more]

Goodness me. I hope I remember in our spring. Our long time local children’s show shop closed. I had the darnedest time finding my girl even sneakers because no one “fits” kids anymore. She’s literally got one pair of shoes (not counting ballet, tap, and cleats). And I’m willing to spend a fair amount on decent shoes. My kids feet grow slow.…[Read more]

Maggie I loved your Paddington set so much. Makes me wish I’d tracked down a better lining fabric. I’m hoping to make a suitcase following your lead, to have as a backup costume for this year. Her plans are entering the change-every-second phase.

Haha, I wish the tractor incident had happened, it would make a great story! I’m afraid it’s a hyperbolic tractor 🙂

Nicole is spot on. You could run them over with a tractor and they’d still look good. They were my favorite shoes to wear as a child, and now my kid always has a pair. She doesn’t give them the same hard wear I did since she’s usually wearing school shoes, but I’ve never known a pair to give out before being outgrown.

I love them as well – my daughter is on her 3rd pair…that have now sadly been chewed through by our puppy. I am going to stitch them together however….but they totally last; I hand them down to our friends when outgrown and they really look brand new. Super comfortable (per my kid) – sad though that she can’t wear sandals to school.

As someone who spends a lot of money on children’s shoes I feel qualified to answer 😉
They are awesome!
My American galpals put me on to them. I can buy them new for about $70 AUS, which is half the cost of the Gavarlin shoes I was sending them to school in and they last so well. They don’t scuff, we clean them at night with a wet one ( inside…[Read more]
