I can’t wait until I get to set up my room. I am deliberately taking my time to set it up as I want. I think the room is about 8X11. I am so excited to get out of the nasty basement. It is so dirty there and hard to keep the machines clean. (Of course, I don’t mean my threads all over.) 🙂
I have to figure out the layout of the room and the…[Read more]

Just finished a red satin sarafan (traditional Russian pinafore) for my 4-year-old’s Russian school concert in January. I was dreading the task because I had to draft my own pattern and I was a bit scared of the satin, but it ended up being a very pleasant sew. I had a sarafan that my grandmother had made for me years and years ago, so I studied…[Read more]

I finally got my sew-jo back (with a vengeance too) and we are departing in an hour for the airport to go visit the inlaws. No sewing for me for a week! I packed some knitting to keep myself busy but I just got some new knits to make leggings for the girls and I really want to do that!

Masha Richart replied to the topic What size "scraps" do you keep? in the forum off topic 11 years ago
I am terrible about scrap hoarding. Last year I finally ditched all the teeny tiny pieces I was keeping “for applique” – since I do appliqué like twice a year! I cut 4×4″ squares of most of the fabrics that had enough for that thinking that I’d make a doll quilt at some point. I’m trying not to hoard scraps anymore because I just don’t have…[Read more]

It must be in the air!
My Twins have moved their desks to their bedroom so I have set up my cutting table in our sewing/children’s office.
Tildy and Liddy are quite happy to make and work on one end of that and as it is 31/2 metres long there is plenty of room.
I am sewing a Class Picnic for Lids, red taslon for the shorts to wear over swimmers…[Read more]

The cowboy outfits reminds me of the illustrations in my nursery books, very retro and cute.
I adore vintage patterns too. -
Nicole replied to the topic When searching for a knit fabric with at least 25% stretch online… in the forum oliver + s: playtime 11 years ago
I know I mentioned it earlier but I have had huge success from eBay, to the degree I have more then I need.
I am debating purchasing a 5m for $25 now as I don’t need it straight away but it is such an excellent price for cotton/lycra (and this stuff is wide, 160cm+)You could set up a search and browse when feeding.
I would be very happy to send…[Read more] -
Nicole replied to the topic side zip vs back zip in the forum liesl + co: bistro dress 11 years ago
I had this conversation with my mother, I wanted her to remove a zipper from the side and put it in the back so my dress was easier to get on.
This resulted in a lecture on bad underwear and no patience. She refused to do it, said it would spoil the dress line and to give myself more time getting dressed. If you watch some older movies, they…[Read more]

@vothgirl, I will email you my recipe, lots of cream and butter but very child friendly.
Don’t bother eating it, just stick it straight on your bum, that it where it will end up 😉I only make it on special occasions.
Sweet potatoes, excellent!
