Can you copy the length and line below the armpits from another pattern? Unless you’re using a tiny size then the Family Reunion could help.

It’s worth trying it first with a less precious fabric (I know, I’m no fun either!). I’ve made the shirt into a tunic a couple of times by adding a 3-4″ peplum at the bottom. While I liked the A-line, loose-fitting look, it is a flared style, and if you just extended the side seam lines down a further 6 inches, it would end up very wide.…[Read more]

🙂 That would be a trial run, not a trail run, dear oh dear…
If it was any other fabric, I would say, ‘Go for it’. I know your time is super precious, but so is Liberty. 😉

You’re no fun with the sensible-muslin-talk-that-I-know-is-right-but-don’t-want-to-do-but-will-now 😉
On a serious note thank you, I’ll extend and see what it looks like. I was aiming for something like 6 inches, based on the blouse she already has and measuring down to her knees-ish.

Welcome back Fee, I hope you have fun sewing up all those little things.
I must admit, I love a birth story, you would have think I had had enough but they always thrill me. If anyone else is inspired to write theirs, feel free. (Or post links)
Thank you for your best wishes, just a straight forward Gall Bladder removal, I fit the criteria of…[Read more]

Thinking of the shape, I would extend from the bottom, following the A-line but I would definitely make a trial run before cutting the Liberty.
You could use it as a nightie.I would add a fair bit of length, a few inches not just a few cm’s.

I’m planning to extend the blouse into more of an a-line tunic/dress to wear over leggings. Any advice on how to do this would be much appreciated. I think if I simply extend it at the bottom it will be too wide. Does this mean I have to slice it either across or downwards and lengthen and make narrower? Or am I over complicating it and I…[Read more]

No sewing, it was a washing and ironing day, but I did prep some cornflower blue cotton poplin for Music Class school blouses (short sleeves and pin tucks) for Lid’s and Tildy.
I *was* going to cut navy Badminton skorts as bottoms but I am seriously considering Lunch Box culottes with all the lovely versions popping up in the Flickr pool…..

I’m tackling a fake leather moto jacket for my teenage daughter. This is the most complicated pattern I’ve ever sewn…I hope it turns out nice!

Yay @vothgirl.
@Dawn R, that will look so cute.Don’t you love it when a experiment works?
I made Trixie a Hopscotch top and skirt today but I adapted the skirt to have the Tea Party bloomers built in.
And it worked! It was not with out a few head scratching moments though. As I have said in the past, I take my hat off to pattern designers,…[Read more]

Yes, do, maybe even the 2T?
I make this for my girls as a school uniform and is a dress that can be worn a little big with a deeper hem. -

I had to google what RealTree fabric is. Are you sewing it for a girl or boy, and is it meant to be worn soon? I was thinking a layette jacket out of sherpa or berber fleece (if meant to be worn while it’s still winter) with bias trim in leftover RealTree or hunting orange fabric would look nice (if for a girl, you could trim it in a rose pink or…[Read more]
