I have only recently discovered kale and I love it!
Served with eggs and bacon sounds very tasty.

Thank you Lotta, it will be exciting if anything comes of it.
Yes, Australia Day today and back to school tomorrow for the Fab Five.
I am very sad to see them go. -

I’ve gotten hooked on cabbage lately. Kale is a favourite which is good because there’s plenty of it at this time of year, but I think the one I like best is Cavolo Nero (black cabbage). I sautee it with just water or with a splash of Marsala wine added, then seasoned with salt and pepper and some Dijon mustard and a nice helping of cream or creme…[Read more]

@jay 1965vw, I will do some research for you, re my Juki.
I am so excited. I may need to buy some licence labels!
When I was in hospital, last week, Trixie was ‘baby-napped’by the nurses and they loved her clothes. Jed (my husband) is very proud of my sewing and he unpacked and showed off her School Days coat, her Tea Party dress, her Hopscotch…[Read more]

@NCMimi, great idea.
I found we had to have a ‘system’ to get the Jumprope dress on my little girl, she had a big head.
She soon learned the ‘procedure’ 🙂I love your dress.

I saw this advertised on Foxtel whilst I was in hospital. It looks fantastic, I wish we could get it. 🙁

I wonder if she found the shoulder fit a wee bit snug…..
I made this for my daughter and, as per usual, sized back and added length. It was a bit of a tug around the shoulders but fine once on.
Perhaps try a knit or a cotton poplin with some stretch?

Thanks for the head’s up! You can find it kind of on the down low on youtube – people are nice enough to upload it. You have to do some creative searching; hopefully, that will be the case again. I absolutely love the series!

@roundtheworldgirl – you made me laugh out loud thinking of the weirdo folks who get their jollies from women in checked shirts! I guess there’s something for everyone in this world!

@Linda – that Gail Brown/Patti Palmer serger book has been my absolute lifesaver from when I got my serger probably like 20 years ago. Great book!
I’m in love with books from estate sales – I love getting a book that was once loved/used by someone – I like to imagine that they would get pleasure from another generation reading their sewing book.…[Read more]

Oh, if you like that book you’ll also like Claire Shaeffer’s Couture Sewing. And pretty much any of her books. I also like the books bike David Coffin: shirtmaking, trousers, etc. All very good resources.
But why stop at books? You can buy a CD with all the back issues of Threads magazine for about $65. Now there’s a treasure trove for…[Read more]
