Sure, that sounds like a good plan. I’ll keep an ear out and will be looking forward to a gathering in Grand Rapids next fall!

Wow, lots of enthusiasm for meetups! It looks like I’m one of the lucky two who’ve weighed in so far who are actually located in Michigan. (Hi Lindsay!) I’m still in for a get-together this Saturday if we can make it happen! Anyone else out there? Hope so!

Thanks, everyone, for your very helpful suggestions! I decided not to add the zipper this time around, as I think you are right, pippi – it will likely be too short before it’s too small elsewhere. But I’ll keep the technique in mind for future versions of this pattern. (There will be more, I’m sure – I love it!) And I’ll definitely consider adding length as well. Just added a photo of the finished (zipper-less) dress: http://www.flickr.com/photos/61441488@N06/8592325711/in/photostream

I’m just thinking ahead – I don’t have kiddos of my own to sew for (yet) and am just having fun sewing for friends and family. So I haven’t had any experience with this dress on an actual wiggly child – maybe it depends on the size of the head! The one I’m making is for a little one (6-12 m size) and the zipper seems like a great way to be prepared for all possibilities – I’ll think I’ll give it a try. Thanks for weighing in!

Liesl, I love this idea! I am just getting started on what is sure to become an Oliver + S obsession – I have several projects in progress and a much longer list of those I can’t wait to start. I would love to get together with other enthusiasts and build a connection that goes beyond the online relationships of the discussion forum, blog, and flickr (as much as I love all the sharing that happens there!).

I live in Traverse City, MI and it just so happens that my partner and I have a trip planned for Easter weekend that will take us right through Grand Rapids on Saturday. The timing is perfect! I can’t volunteer to host since I’ll just be passing through, but would love to meet up somewhere. We are headed to Kalamazoo for a family party (a 55th wedding anniversary!) that evening, but I could likely join in anytime earlier in the day. Thank you for suggesting this!

    Kate
