Hugs and prayers for you and your family, Cybele. That is an awful lot on your plate.
I can appreciate your frustrations with work. A dear friend worked for Social Services in the US for while, but had to leave because it was such an emotional strain re-connecting children to parents she knew were not good for the welfare of the children. My…[Read more] -

Fabric.com has good options if you don’t have a fabric store close by that carries denim (and I’ve been happy with all the ones I’ve purchased from them). 6 – 6.5 oz with a little stretch has been great for our early spring and early fall temps, and the 8 – 8.5 oz with a little stretch is good for our colder weather.

Fiber Club! 10 years agoI feel like I’m running an ad agency for Brooklyn Tweed at this point, but it’s just something I know well and can use for a further example; I’m sure many other designers have a lot of these fantastic features.
When looking at a knitting pattern, you might be happier if:
1. It has a lot of makes on Ravelry. You can look at modeled photos of…[Read more]

Fiber Club! 10 years agoI was thinking about this thread this morning while I was blocking something. It’s this pattern: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/arlo
and it asks you to block to a schematic. I was thinking that there are only a few ways for a garment to not fit. One, it’s poorly designed. Same as with sewing patterns — it asks for too few inches for a…[Read more]

Oh honey — that is a whole, whole lot of no fun at all. Wishing you a lot of courage and a few moments somewhere, somehow, for yourself. All I can say is that this too shall pass.

Sorry all of you who are waiting. We can’t even announce the new patterns yet because someone (I won’t say who…) is spending this week enjoying some wonderful spring skiing in Utah, and he has to finish photographing the samples and editing the modeled photos once he gets home later this week. He’ll be working over the holiday weekend to get…[Read more]

I’ve sewn the sandbox and after school pants in denim several times and have been happy with the results. Nicole has altered the sketchbook shorts to pants and has done a bang up job of owning that pattern. Search “sketchbook” on her blog and you’ll be in for a treat.…[Read more]

Sorry to keep you in suspense!
Everything is printed, and now it’s time for the process of marrying up the jobs from the different printers and getting them assembled. Then they need to ship back across the country and get warehoused before we can release them.
So it will probably be another couple weeks, but it could be sooner if everyone does…[Read more]

Fiber Club! 10 years agoLinda is spot on. The only thing I would add is that some yarns are inherently very firm and some grow/bloom in counterintuitive way so also block your swatch. Even a half or a third of a stitch off (in width — row gauge is better handled in inches, I think) can add up so much more quickly than it seems it should.
