Thanks Enbee for your input.
I just looked up your model serger and it seems to have all the features I use in my price range.
Have you tried using the rolled hem feature on your machine? I do rolled hems quite a bit and if it’s as automatic as the description, then that’s a bonus. -

It looks like I will need to replace my Bernette FunLock serger. It was damaged recently and since it’s 20 years old (or older) perhaps it’s time to replace it.
The sergers in my price bracket that I’ve been looking at are: Juki MO0664D, Brother 1034D & 1134D, and Janome 8002D
Threading a serger is not an issue for me and I have a Janome…[Read more]

Hi @caraskates, I think they will look adorable.
I have a tute here http://fiveandcounting-motherof5.blogspot.com.au/2011/08/short-cut-sailboat-pants.html if you would like a look at the construction (apologies for the dated graphics, I was in my colour phase)
These are a great trouser to size up, which will give you that longer leg you are…[Read more]

Nicole replied to the topic Zipper (or other closure) for the quilted vest in the forum oliver + s: school days 8 years ago
I remember that style jacket being very popular in the 70’s.They were often fastened with a frog closure.
Would that work for you?Or you could finish the edge and then baste an open end zipper under the front edge and then topstitch in place?
I hope that is some help?

@housecall, if I may be so bold, here is a tute http://fiveandcounting-motherof5.blogspot.com.au/2014/03/the-garden-party-tutorial-part-one.html
Unless your ribbon is very firm I would be inclined to sew it on top rather then replace the yoke and waistband.
*Love* this pattern, have fun.

Nicole replied to the topic Lengthening Cappucino Dress in the forum liesl + co: cappuccino dress + tunic 8 years ago
Yay @angelwingneedlearts, I am so pleased.
Three inches would be no problem at all, I added that to a swish little black hanky linen version.~Nicole~

I have added length to the Portfolio with is sort of the ‘prequel’ to this lovely pattern.
I added it to the bottom, continuing the slight ‘A’ line effect.
Don’t forget to add to all the panels. 🙂
I hope that helps.

I have had the best idea, an O+S Moto jacket!
How cool would that be?It would totally work for a baby (from an old leather jacket) to a pre-teen.
Totally unisex.Please Liesl, puh-lease!

I typically try to focus on the positive, even if the best I can muster is, ‘however hard I have it somebody else for sure has it much worse.’ I remember losing sleep and having awful anxiety about nuclear war as a kid. Just want to preserve my child’s innocence for as long as I can, heaven knows it won’t last forever. Sorry to bring the thread…[Read more]

Thank you, Nicole. After recent events nearby it’s really chilling. The contrast between the sweetness of the sentiment in the song, sung in a small child’s voice, and the sometimes-darkness of the adult world is hard to bear right now.
