Liesl Gibson replied to the topic FBA without adjusting waistline…? in the forum sewing with liesl + co and oliver + s 10 years ago
Yes, you’ve got it, Heidi. Generally that additional width is handled with the combination of a dart and more contouring at the side seam. I hope that helps, Rebecca!

I finished Jed’s polo and should be making him one more garment… but as Hugo’s 18th is looming I have queue jumped the sewing rota and cut him another pair of Jedediah trousers and an Aime Comme Marie Mister shirt and me a pair of Ginger jeans and an Aime Comme Marie Madame shirt for me!
I rarely have this much cut waiting to be sewn, it feels…[Read more]

I have made several and the lining doesn’t show.
Perhaps roll your seam slightly inwards when pressing to be on the safe side. -

Susan, I have some piccies of the yoke here as well as a nifty treatment for the collar to get it to sit like a two piece.

Right on, @lightningmcstitch! The drape is important for this one. The fabric can be relatively thick as long as it’s not too stiff. @Ginger, I’d suggest going to a fabric store and looking at the coatings section so you can see the type of fabric we’ve recommended for this pattern. That way you’ll know what to look for when you shop your stash!

I sometimes use tailor’s tacks and sometimes use tailor’s chalk. Depending on the fabric, they can both work.

There are some good seams to take it in by @vothgirl. A little from each would give you the best result.

I finished by husbands long waited Liberty shirt, I have only had the fabric for two years. 🙂
I have moved on to a trusty KwikSew polo top for him, in a vibrant green/pink stripe.

I happily buy ‘good’ second hand shoes for my girls as they have generally been worn only lightly and the previous owner has not changed the foot bed of the shoe. I have also purchased second hand Saltwater sandals and let my girls wear them in the sea and then walk around until they are dry so they soften and shape to their foot.
Older shoes I…[Read more]

@katybellabug it is way too fast 🙁
I finished the Lisette Attache peplum top in neoprene (scuba knit) for Elsa.
It was a great fabric to sew but not fun to unpick, the stitches ‘sunk in’. I did make a calico muslin first and also did the petite adjustment and scooped out the neck…[Read more] - Load More
