Hey all, I just sewed my first entredeux and was SHOCKED at how easy it was! I’ll do a little tutorial for the Butterfly Dress sew-along. I was thinking I’d do a little pintucking tutorial, too, using a double needle and a pintucking foot. All these new (to me) techniques! Very fun, and so much simpler than I expected.
-
What? You are kidding right? They are so simple you are right but you know I thought the same when I first tried them. They are such pretty techniques. I am very glad there are tutorials coming about them all. But, I thought the butterfly was a top?
-
Ack, yes, the Butterfly Top! No idea why I said dress. In any case, I love these techniques.

Liesl Gibson replied to the topic How thin is too thin for knits? in the forum sewing with liesl + co and oliver + s 9 years ago
That has happened to me so many times! Knits come in such a range of weights and qualities, it’s really difficult to judge the weight when you’re purchasing on-line. Right now my fabric closet has a pile of really slinky knits that were intended for projects that require a more stable knit. Frustrating, to be sure.
If the fabric doesn’t feel…[Read more]

It’s now on my list to grade up the skirt and release it in larger sizes! I can totally understand why you like it, and it would be great for the older girls too, I agree. I have a very large project on my plate right now, but I’ll try to squeeze it in when I can find time, ok?

Ooh, good sources! I hadn’t heard of the French shop. So cute!

Liesl Gibson replied to the topic Neck facing puckering in the forum oliver + s: butterfly blouse + skirt 9 years ago
I’ve definitely found that different fabrics have varying amounts of stretch on the bias, and it can effect the neckline a great deal. In fact, I’m still trying to decide whether to re-do the neckline of my Lisette B6169 dress because it puckers just enough to really bother me. I wish there was a really easy solution or a perfect length, but I’m…[Read more]

Great suggestions, Reeni! I always forget about Greenberg and Hammer. I’d add Steinlauf and Stoller to your list for their great tools and notions. And I love Elliot Berman for their European imported fabrics from all the great fashion houses.

Thanks for the kind words, @needlewoman! I’m glad you like the patterns and appreciate your support and encouragement. It’s always so nice to hear a kind word!
If it helps at all with regard tot he knits, you really don’t need any special equipment. So don’t let knits intimidate you! If you haven’t tried them yet, I think you’ll be pleasantly…[Read more]

Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your point of view), there’s not really such a thing as one-stop shopping in NYC. We have such a broad variety of options here, it’s impossible to put it all in one place. Like Sarvi said, it really depends on what you’re hoping to find.
