Sorry! I meant to say I splurged on
I do have a but the fabric is so unique! I keep flip flopping on how to best use it. Plus, I thought it would be fun to talk about! What is more lovely than little girls in white dresses?
Here’s my . The fabric there is quite different though, so I’m not sure it would work.

We’ve only heard rave reviews about any of Gail’s classes….so, we can only imagine how wonderful taking two of her classes would be. Ooooh, yes!! You must finish them now – so nice to have an excuse to do so.

I had the very great pleasure of taking a couple of classes with Gail when she came to Australia for Beating around the bush a few years ago (about 8?) we made Primrose from the Beautiful Bishops book – I did size 18 month I think and it still isn’t completed so maybe for next Easter it will be done.
I also did another dress with her that…[Read more]

I can’t see the fabric you splurged on, is there supposed to be a link or attachment? I doubt I can suggest anything you haven’t thought of but I’m excited to see what you’ll make!

Would you like it to reflect the bride’s or bridesmaids’ dress/es in any way? usually there is a little detail that can serve as a jumping-off point, like a portrait collar or bit of design on the lace.
If that isn’t a consideration, go for the most opulent/fiddly/would-not-do-this-for-pay beading/smocking/embroidery. Maybe even save some work for…[Read more] -

Love, love, love Gail Doane’s gorgeous creations!! Funny thing….we briefly met her last weekend, while “crashing” an heirloom sewing class she was teaching. Luckily, it was during lunch so we got a quick photo with her and were able to ooooh and aaaah over the loveliness she brought to showcase.
Yes, yes, yes….if only the time could match our…[Read more]

I don’t do much in the way of fine hand work but I joined this group purely to comment on this!
So excited to see what you do. I still have that Vogue pattern I can post to you, if you like. Why not start a Pinterest board?

Oh yes that’s another one of the favourites on my to do list but because we will be heading into winter (whatever that is around here) and my baby is still very much a “lying down” baby, that one is earmarked for more around the first birthday mark. I might even adapt one of Gail Doane’s bishops to make it fit her when she’s walking. It would be…[Read more]

After lots of saving and uncertainty, the tickets are booked and we are definitely going to Ireland for my cousin’s wedding! Kitty will be the flower girl and I totally splurged on
The fabric has a gorgeous drape and will gather up beautifully, so I think a full skirt is in order. But I just keep going back and forth on what I want to do with…[Read more]

I’d been thinking that I’d love the little girls to have smocked dresses for Easter. Not sure if they will ‘approve’ or not. They seem to have grown up on me overnight!
I want to say that BK’s baptism gown was made using the Twinkle Toes pattern…I’ll have to double check next time I’m at my mom’s.;)

Oh my….that’s lovely {had to look it up online}!! I can completely see why you’ve been itching to make the Mignonette. We hope to make our youngest niece a dress from AS&E for Easter as well. It is Twinkle Toes from AS&E issue 58. Time will tell if we get it done :).

I have this little dress I have been itching to make from Australian Smocking and Embroidery (issue number will come to mind shortly I hope) called Mignonette. It involves smocking, insertion lace and embroidery down the centre of a t shaped panel. Whether I will get to it for Easter or not is one thing as it falls early this year. But the aim is…[Read more]
