Yes! Old fashioned baby are really lovely, based on real antiques. That one has it’s own individual charm and I found the patterns roomy so because she looks like a scrumptious cuddly darling, it should be perfect!

I love a shorter gown with matching knickers. Simple batiste with maybe some pin tucking?

Wow @justsewit, that’s a lot of info for me to take in! Thank you!
@Reeni Yes, it will be Spring, but Brisbane will be quite warm already (one year we visited in August, and I didn’t take any short sleeve clothes… Silly me had to go shopping!)
I’ve been looking too – wondering about this kit…[Read more]

Tamara, thankfully in 2nd grade they only compare how well their dresses spin! 😀
I do remember for my own first communion in Catholic school we had a uniform — a very sweet empire-waist puff sleeve affair in voile.
How old is your girl for confirmation — is it 7th or 8th grade? At that time (even more so than others) they grow like weeds and…[Read more] -

@jay_1965vw that gown is gorgeous! Now I have to beg the question. Do you want to go heirloom-y and have one just for Dot or are you after something more simple to “get the job done”. Do you want embroidery, smocking etc?
I would do a natural fibre, even though I am not really familiar with Queensland weather in September but I can imagine that…[Read more]

late September is edging into spring, right? I’d say something that you could layer because you never know if it will be chilly or beautiful weather. maybe a Library dress or carousel in white flannel?

I made a baptism gown that Audrey and Josephine wore, but unfortunately it is a 3 month size, and Dorothy is not going to be baptised until visit Australia in September. She’s already about to grow out of the one her sisters wore (I’m thinking of taking photos in the next week, just so she has at least worn…[Read more]

I’m sorry, the pictures work for me! I hesitate to add them to the o+S flickr pool because it’s not an o+S pattern, but they are in my photostream…

I was all prepared to be amazed by this picture but I for some reason cannot see it!😕 I am sure you did a superb job nonetheless. My daughter’s confirmation isn’t until November next year so I guess it is my turn to look about. We don’t do veils though and I am guessing there will be specifications as to how much of the “more” we are allowed – I…[Read more]

so the angst with regard to a magnum opus was not unfounded, but i am overall pleased with the result. I drafted a princess-seamed full circle skirt with long sleeves.
Silk dupioni lined in cotton voile, with embroidered organza sleeves and veil. I bought silk organza and was going to do the embroidery myself, but chanced upon some leftover from…[Read more] -
