Well we did close it – but I don’t see why we would reject anyone at this point unless they were spam/scam accounts. I’d be interested to see if it shows up in searches for Oliver + S on Facebook, so if the link above doesn’t work anymore, that’s another way to join if it does. I’m pretty new at this so I’m open to suggestions!! 😀 we can directly…[Read more]

Hello lovelies!
A few of us gals from the Brother 1034D serging group on Facebook got to chatting about our adoration of Oliver + S patterns and decided to start a fan group to increase the presence of O+S in our Facebook feeds. Please come join us if you are a Facebooker and help us spread the word of our love for O+S! We may even convert a few…[Read more]

Hello all –
I am sewing a size 6, using a sweatshirt fleece (fuzzy on one side, smooth on the other) and discovered while hemming the first leg that a 1/2″ channel was just barely too narrow for my 1/2″ non-roll elastic. The stuff is pretty stiff, and the fabric is pretty thick – maybe a softer elastic may have worked better, but that’s what I…[Read more]

Sandra S Hamous replied to the topic How thin is too thin for knits? in the forum sewing with liesl + co and oliver + s 9 years ago
I was mulling it over again earlier today – I personally have a RTW slub knit raglan that is super comfy – and I wouldn’t mind having another! So maybe I’ll just use School Bus and/or Field Trip for the slub knit fabric instead of a polo shirt (and I do have the Field Trip pattern – it’s one of my favorites!), and try to find something else for…[Read more]

Hello –
I am feeling a little confounded at the moment! I ordered some inexpensive knit fabric online with the intention of using it for the Parachute Polo and School Bus T-shirt. However, when it arrived, it wasn’t nearly as thick as I had hoped! One of the fabrics is a striped slub knit – super soft but also somewhat sheer, seems more suited…[Read more]

Wow, this took way too long! LOL
The dress is finished, it turned out lovely, and I blogged about it:
(disclaimer, my blog is very rough, nothing fancy, so be kind!

The verdict is, with some adjustments (number and positioning of pleats) it will turn out REALLY adorable on the final dress. 🙂Thanks all!!

Update! I decided to have a go at it and just completed a test dress today! I’m so excited!! I’m prepping an entry for my blog with photos that I will link to when it’s completed. I’m going to write up what I did this time and what I plan to do on the final dress. It was so much fun! Can’t wait to share it!
Here’s a teaser image for the test dress! Enjoy!

A tutorial for that would be awesome!! I’m making the 18-24 mo size and my sister is also making one, in a size 4 – we’re doing matching Easter dresses because we are big dorks. =D
Excellent point about the zipper – I had not thought about that. But I do like the idea of doing one pleat on either side of the zipper, that would be really lovely…!

Thank you so much for the links, Rachel – I ran across those after I had posted here and I love all the mods you did…very cool!! I do have a question though – why did you decide not to do box pleats all the way around on the dresses? That is what I would like to try.
I do have the Music Box Jumper template – and I do intend to use it – or at…[Read more]

Hello! I would like to do box pleats instead of gathers on the Fairy Tale dress – I did a search on the forums here and also googled with no luck. I will keep looking but wondered if anyone on here had done this alteration or knew of someone who had, and if the pattern needs to be altered, if there is more fabric required, etc. Just looking for…[Read more]
