Hi Mardee
Such a lot of wonderful sewing ideas and what a huge project in the quilt! I have quilted table quilts and a bedquilt (which was really a large lap quilt) each for my two older children. It all depends on the design of quilting you go for. I searched through Leah Day’s site (freemotion quilting project) for ideas and tutorials of the…[Read more]

When I searched the pool for monochrome, they only come up if it’s in the tag box. Easy to do from a pc but phone uploads perhaps not so?
More than half of the images were found by trawling the the Flickr pool as they didn’t appear in search results.
Rachel and i were talking about doing it as a link party and that’s heaps easier. That way YOU do…[Read more] -

I take it the maiden voyage was a huge success then😜 I am thrilled you have had the chance to sew, let alone finish the project. Hip hip hooray! Have you had the chance to put it on flickr yet? Need to go looksee.
I have been sewing the two bubble dresses I had planned for this week but hit a slight snag. The front outer skirt was a tad longer…[Read more]

@AmyF I really hope it comes together for you. I was going to say measuring the back of the little girl you are sewing for would enable you to make sure you need to adjust in that area. Sometimes little girls can carry upper body weight – everyone is different in how they develop.
You will post pictures when it is done won’t you? Wishing you a…[Read more]

I might have to book my daughter in for sewing lessons with someone else. She sat and watched as I showed her how to thread it and how to fill the bobbin but that was the extent of it all. She has been using her charm pack to practise sewing straight and making them into basic bags. She wants to sew something for Chloë but in true teen style, she…[Read more]

This is my bread and butter! 🙂
Happily it may be the push I need to redo my all time favourite pattern mash in a new, bigger size. It was the back if the After School pants on modified front of the Field Trip. I made about five pairs in the end… -

I am putting the finishing touches to my birthday party dress. I used the elastic measurements from the layette pattern to use for the elastic on the seashore bloomers and it was a little long. I couldn’t get the whole length to go into the casing! So had to take a bit off and in exchange got the right amount of gather on the leg and waist (not…[Read more]

Try doing this http://fiveandcounting-motherof5.blogspot.com.au/2014/03/garden-party-dress-part-two.html except for adding the waistband. Baste the side seams, fit and adjust yours gathers and then unpick the side seams and add the waist band.
Then you can make it as big as you need too.xx N
