out of print patterns

This is my first entry of the Oliver + S forum. I discovered Oliver + S patterns a couple of months ago and now am totally addicted. Already I have 8 patterns with 7 more on the way. I finally managed to get hold of a Jump Rope dress pattern 4-8 from http://www.sewingbasketince.com but I think it was the last one.
13 years ago LINKJustine J @justmejayWelcome, Tassiemum – but as you have already discovered, these patterns are seriously addictive, so maybe I should say beware!
13 years ago LINKsewingbunny @sewingbunnyAny idea where else I could find a Jump Rope dress pattern size 4 to 8? Been looking high and low… Love the pattern so much.
I am a beginner sewer and am totally addicted to Oliver + S patterns. Unfortunately am not living in the States, so there is the additional cost of international shipping. After two weeks of waiting, the patterns finally arrived. Hooray!
13 years ago LINKViolaisabelle @ViolaisabelleIn this thread: https://oliverands.com/forums/topic.php?id=690 if you look at the first posting, I listed off several of the patterns that were available. She may well still have one of those patterns in that size for you. Don’t look at the web site for content, it’s not very good. This store is in Canada, I don’t know where you are located. It’s worth contacting her to ask if she has it. It’s a holiday here in Canada today, so I don’t know if the shop it open.
Good Luck,
Carol
13 years ago LINKemstone @emstoneCheck the other thread. I just called Out of Hand and they had 1 left (after I purchased mine) of the larger size of the Jump Rope. I am so happy as she is going to ship mine today.
13 years ago LINKsewingbunny @sewingbunnyWe live in Sarawak, on the Borneo island. So am very much relying on the online shop to get my patterns, and hopefully they ship overseas at a reasonable cost.
Might have to give the Jump Rope dress a miss 🙁
Thank you all for being so helpful!
13 years ago LINKsuse @suseFirst time poster here! I’ve been using a few O + S patterns and with two kidlets (small boy aged 3.5 and small girl aged 10 months) I am planning on stocking up on patterns so that I can make as much of their wardrobe as possible in future years. As this mission will probably take me a little while, I plan to get the more difficult to obtain (ie: out of print) patterns first. Then I can buy the patterns in the larger sizes for my daughter later on.
Do O + S central usually give notice that a pattern is about to go out of print?
13 years ago LINKToyota888 @Toyota888Hi Suse – There is usually a blog post or something like that well ahead – basically when there is a decision not to reprint. Then it takes quite a while for the shops to sell out.
13 years ago LINKsuse @suseToyota888 – thanks so much for that! Good to know, because I can plan my pattern ‘stashing’.
13 years ago LINKwendy @wendylsLast I heard there was one available here
Out Of Hand http://www.out-of-hand.com/
toll-free: (888) 263-3353
phone: (403) 217-4871
fax: (403) 249-1778
Call and speak to them rather than check their website. There was also one available through a website called Happy Stitches, if I’m remembering correctly. There should be a thread with a link from about a week back. Good luck!
13 years ago LINKmonkeymoto @monkeymotoI found a site with the Puppet Show pattern available in the 2T-5T size-
They are marketing this as the whole outfit, but just click on the pattern only box to buy. They may have some other OOP patterns available, but the site takes some time to navigate. I have no experience with this store, so can’t attest to that, but I did just place my order.
I did also buy the Bubble Dress in the 2T-5T size at this site (and it arrived in a few days, woohoo)-

Whoot! 🙂 Hope this helps some of you.
13 years ago LINKMama_Knowles @Mama_KnowlesThanks so much! I have have been looking everywhere for this pattern, I just order one!
13 years ago LINKjustinsbride @justinsbrideThanks!
13 years ago LINKJohannaO @JohannaOBolt Neighborhood Fabric Boutique has most, if not all of the OOP patterns- I know I saw the Bubble Dress (both) Playdate (both), Puppet Show in the smaller sizes, among others. They don’t list their items online, so it is probably going to take a phone call if you’re interested to verify.
13 years ago LINKmrsc1345 @mrsc1345Bolt is the best! That is where I have scored all of my out of print patterns. http://www.boltfabricboutique.com/ Also, fabric depot has the bedtime story pattern in both sizes available in store, you could send them an email or give them a call to see if you could purchase them over the web, if there is someone still looking for one. http://www.fabricdepot.com/index.php?page=CatalogPage&pageid=234. Sometimes you have to be a bit firm with employees at the depot. I am constantly calling them when the new patterns come out each season to see if they are in stock yet and they are always like, Oliver and what? No, we don’t have those, or we don’t have that pattern, so I patiently explain they are on the right side of the pattern desk by the remnants and wait while they go searching. More than once I have been told they didn’t have a certain pattern and I went in the same day and they would! I can’t be too mad though, the depot is great and offer patterns at a discount. Just don’t be afraid to get assertive!
