I am in the middle of making 2 messenger bags for my girls. They are adorable, but I can’t find the strap adjuster hardware anywhere. I tried the recommended pacific trimming site as well as my local craft and sewing stores and haven’t found them. Any suggestions?

When I made an adjustable strap purse I bought a bunch of hardware from Being Bags on Etsy, but right now her shop notice says she is on vacation until July 28th…

I just did a search and Strapworks.com has some, not sure of the price. Good luck, I know that sort of stuff can be difficult to find.

I cut my strap and hardware off of an old bag that we had lying around. My Joann’s didn’t carry the strap adjusters either 🙁

but a different brand (Dritz). They were next to the Velcro dots, snap setters, and stuff like that.

Would any of those work or is that not the kind of thing you had in mind? I made adjustable straps for the backpack with parachute clips since my kid likes playing with those, but I don’t see why it wouldn’t work for a messenger bag also. I suppose it depends on the look you’re going for? Oh, and you might want to try calling up Pacific Trimming — I am guessing from the fact that the only option they have under ‘buckles’ is ‘rhinestone’ that they might have other stock not listed on their website. If not, maybe they will know of another shop that can help?

Wow! You all are the best. So helpful, thank you. I found some plain metal ones that look similar to the ones in the photograph on the pattern at http://www.strap works.com. My Joann didn’t have anything and I even drove to the Joann superstore in a neighboring suburb! Hopefully, they’ll arrive soon and I can finish these darling bags!
