Oliver + S

  • Hope all goes well with the new baby, Tamara!
I’m making the Jalie onsie from cuddle fleece. The pattern is fantastic! It all lines up and sews up so well. The instructions aren’t Oliver and S standard but they are fine, with great pictures, and give good results.
I love sewing with fleece, no ironing! It makes the project so fast 🙂

A fabric gift is pretty much my dream gift, lucky you! I just use a fine needle and guterman, I’ll be interested to know what anyone else uses.

@justsewit Really looking forward to seeing your little arrival in her new and beautiful clobber!

A new year means new patterns for me.
Last year’s are all looking twee

  • It looks like that doesn’t it @Robin. But no, the illustration and the written instruction show the waistband finishing at the pocket edge. No overlap needed ’cause the pocket overlaps itself.
    Puzzling….

SO EXCITED!! I was given a very generous gift card by my MIL for Christmas to treat myself to some nice fabric (I’m so blessed to have a MIL I get along with so well!), so I just ordered my first Liberty! I was able to get enough for a Weekend Getaway blouse, as well as some lovely indigo linen to sew myself a Bistro Dress for Easter! Of course I…[Read more]

  • So there’s a relationship between the correct underwear and a side zip? Hilarious.

I have other side zipped dresses, but they are either V or wrap neck and mostly short sleeved. I think it’s the high neckline, plus long sleeves, plus my broad shoulders that leaves so little room. For a casual dress, I might go ahead and switch it. One day while…[Read more]

  • I think it depends on what you like to sew. I had to start getting pretty strict about what I would keep. I have some basic rules – one box for scraps and once it’s full I have to get rid of stuff. I toss teeny pieces as I cut to avoid temptation. Also,I keep a few bins for remnants, which are at least 1/2 yd plus scraps or something. Remnants are…[Read more]

Oh Becky, I love that you shared this. My system is similar to yours. 🙂

  • I’ve made these once, but can’t remember, is it overlap for a button?

Merry Christmas to one and to all!
Hard to believe this year’s at its last call.
    Ribbons and papers…
    And family capers…
Alas, my sewing’s been at a stall!

A new year means new patterns for me.

    Tamara,

    Happy Babying! Snuggle lots!

    Tamara,

    Happy Babying! Snuggle lots!

  • Whoa, I’m still struggling on this one…

I unpicked my attached and topstitched waistband, cut a new one, unpicked the front and back box pleats and started over.

I redid the box pleats with the new correct pattern markings, and the culottes appear to fit just fine now.

As I’ve gone to attach the waistband I’ve encountered another problem with…[Read more]

    Hi,

Hello everyone! I am hoping this is a friendly place.

I was browsing online and came across this site. Not sure if I am in the right place, but I am hoping someone can point me in the direction to a decent pattern for a doggy jacket as my dog is 15 and not feeling too well.
