Thats lovely, I hope Noah enjoyed the march. It is so nice to see the little ones taking such an interest this year. My 7yr granddaughter sang “The Last Anzac” at assembly yesterday, it is such a beautiful song and the words just touched my heart, it is a tribute to Alex Campbell who died not so long ago, but a moving tribute to all soldiers.

Those are some very pretty insides on Sarvi’s dress (gorgeous dress too Sarvi), but it’s not what I was thinking of. I think I am going mad!

Oh that is too funny!
I rang my parents for this weekend’s itinerary (and to share some of it also) and to ask my dad to pick up the christening cake. My dad asked my nine year old son if he would like to march in the ANZAC day parade with him and wear his great Nan’s medal. My Noah said, “It would be my honour.” And of course the motherly pride swelled!

Gosh it’s been a while since I’ve been over here on the forums! I couldn’t remember my name or my password… Apparently I’m good to go again now!
I’m wondering if anyone can point me in the the right direction. I seem to recall there being a page (perhaps on the O + S blog) about finishing the birthday party dress hem facing with a beautiful…[Read more] -

The dog had a slight accident on his bed, so DIL put it all in the front loader washing machine with extra washing liquid, disinfectant etc. Consequently too many bubbles and it was about a foot deep all through the laundry.
My grandson (4 years old) went passed and yelled out *Ohh no the washing machine has vomitted everywhere”. I can’t walk…[Read more]

Great suggestions, Reeni! I always forget about Greenberg and Hammer. I’d add Steinlauf and Stoller to your list for their great tools and notions. And I love Elliot Berman for their European imported fabrics from all the great fashion houses.

Cooking and Baking 10 years agoThis is not so much lunch as a micro snack but my kid was asking for peanut butter so I blitzed half roasted almonds and half roasted & salted sunflower seeds. Pretty fantastic in a little ‘sandwich’ between crackers, and really held her over well.

Cooking and Baking 10 years agolike you, Darcy, we are not vegetarians but eat vegetarian (actually, vegan!) a lot. I love a hearty salad. To make it filling without animal proteins I add sunflower seeds, chickpeas, several different kinds of vegetables and fruits, and top it off with a tahini-based dressing.
A little more time consuming but very yummy is lettuce wraps…[Read more]

Heirloom Sewing and Embroidery 10 years agoOh yes! I love that idea too! This child is going to have a lot of outfits! Ok so this might sounds crazy but bare with me for a moment. What if I used the puppet show top and the tea party sunsuit bottom and modified them to mash together. It would have the collar, a line to add piping to the bodice and I could embroider the bodice with little…[Read more]

Heirloom Sewing and Embroidery 10 years agoYes I adore tartan in general also (maybe it is the Scottish roots?) on boys particularly. I think that if you swap the button/snaps to the back and add tucks from the shoulders down to about level with the bottom of the armhole and also add a piped peter pan collar you could have an heirloom version of a boy layette shirt. I also like to have…[Read more]

My four year old was helping me hang washing and was naming things as she passed them to me:
“your undies mummy,
My brother’s sock,
Daddy’s nose blow thing,
…”Laundry names seem to be a sticky point as she once asked me, very loudly, in the swimming pool change rooms:
“where you get that booby holder from, mummy?” -

Heirloom Sewing and Embroidery 10 years agoI definitely agree with that. I love a tartan. That is so cute and both ideas are adorable! I will definitely be adding those to my sewing list for my future nephew! Look at how little they are!!
