Oh this is just too sweet!! What a gorgeous doll! I love that she’s got brown eyes. F.
I used shoe laces that I found in Lincraft to thread thru a casing in a kidlet vest; the way the shoe lace is sealed at the end made it very easy to thread/tie the ‘toggle’ on the end, and it copes better with being washed becase hasn’t frayed – so far.

I am still waiting for Spoonflower fabric (the swatch wasn’t the right colour, so I have made a swatch sampler to make sure I get it right next time). I’ve done as much as I can on Audrey’s coat, but forced myself to stop before I did too much and made it harder later!
    I have finished Audrey’s doll Harriet’s coat though 🙂

I’m guessing once you sew the shirt/collar/bias sandwich, some under-stitching of the seam allowances to the bias would make it lay more flat once the collar is folded over to the right side. And depending on the fabric, tacking the collar to the shirt in a couple key places may also help it sit. It definitely was something I found helpful with…[Read more]

Oh yes, I can totally picture that — so instead the bias trim going ‘over the edge’ as it does now, the raw edge would be turned in — that is doable. I will try it out!

@mama_knowles, I think I know what you’re describing, it’s the first idea that came to my mind. It would also work to put a little Peter Pan collar on for a more feminine look, I may have to play around with it since I’m pretty comfy with the pattern, having made 3 sets from it so far.
And you so should get the pattern, it’s my favorite O+S so…[Read more]

Oh, You can Sarvi!! I just thought of how, you just need to figure out the pattern collar size. If you sew on the collar to the right side of the shirt then use a bias sewn over the seam allowance on the top side of the collar. (sandwich the collar between the skirt and bias to the inside of the shirt to cover the seam) and the to finish sewing…[Read more]

I did make a sketchbook oneise, Caspian wears them a ton! The only problem with the Sketchbook pattern is it size doesn’t start until 6-12m. I so wanted to make one for my nephew’s baby boy buy it would be way too big on him. I really need to buy the Lullaby pattern…..

Ooh, I’ll have to go have a peek, now you mention it that does ring a bell, or whatever the visual equivalent is …

I’m looking forward to hearing what others say. I think it will be adorable. Didn’t Sharon do something similar, maybe with the sketchbook shirt itself (making a “onesie” from it)?

  • And again thanks to Kim for updating her checklist once again. You can download a version of the latest file with this link.

  • That’s exactly the point of the FBA. You’re small/narrow in the shoulders but need room in other places. Shoulders, neck and back are more difficult to adjust, so we pick sizes to fit those parts and adjust for the others. Even though this is a loose fitting style, there isn’t a ton of room in the waist and hips, so you will need to grade out to…[Read more]

  • Thanks for the feedback ladies, you’ve given me lots of ideas! I’m actually a straight 10 in these patterns in the bust, waist, and hips, and arms, but the larger size is too big for the neck, shoulders, and back, at least with patterns in the past. It’s good to know there are many options so I can try to get a great fit.

  • I was about to say that I followed the FBA instructions faithfully – though they are not the typical ones – and had very good results. But then I noticed there’s more ease built into the larger sizes than the size 2. Do you measure a size 2 in the waist and hips as well? I’m thinking that maybe you cut the size 4 and do the 3/4″ FBA. There are no…[Read more]

  • I made a pair for my then 14-month old with a very stretchy knit and they fit well in the waist/hip/bottom, but my coverstitch at the hem couldn’t stretch enough to prevent pinched ankles. She’s a little small (18 inch waist) but has those adorable baby roll legs. I did some measuring and realized her ankle/thigh circumference is the same as her…[Read more]

  • Thanks for the prompt replies. That’s encouraging to know they do fit. I think I will call this pair 6m as it’s not a super stretchy knit, but seemed to have the 25% recovery. I think I’ll make sure to use much stretchyer knit next time. Thanks again 🙂

  • Just this afternoon I sewed a pair in 6-12m. The fit is comfortable in the waist and legs but a smidgen snug in the seat for our slim/long 10 month old, due to her cloth diapers. My next pair for her will be 12-18m size to better fit with growing room over the diaper and for her long legs. I measured and my pair has a finished waist size of…[Read more]
