If I were making a contrast belt I would also do contrast pockets, cuff flaps or at least buttons to help pull it all together 🙂

I love all those color pairings!
I wish I could find more of the mustard Lisette twill but even a search through etsy and ebay didn’t turn any up. I suppose I could look at my local fabric store for a Kona cotton in the same color since I have enough of the twill for everything but the belt and facings.
I’m doing my best to only use stash…[Read more] -

How about a mustard stripe for the belt, or a leather belt with leather buttons? Or skip the belt entirely. You could put an interior casing with elastic at the back waist if you want to draw it in a little w/o the belt. If you do a contrast belt, maybe also do contrast sleeve tabs to tie it all together?

I love mustard paired with that deep eggplant purple, or raspberry (love that outfit, B) – but not sure about using it for a belt (yes with the facings though) – you could always make one of each colour and see 🙂

I think it could be really cute with the tie and buttons pulling the look together, or even like Sarvi’s last example with piping.
*If* you like bold colors (you know I do!), my favorite pairing with mustard is raspberry, though this is more hot pink than raspberry: https://www.flickr.com/photos/52761227@N04/9974306704/in/set-72157630670704608/ -

Hello and welcome Schor. You’ve made more of a head start on the Ltts book items than I have. I think I need to get a move on and there is just simply no excuse!
Daughters are great to sew for not to mention sons. It is the best thing since sliced breas to be able to sew anything at all in my opinion. -

There isn’t much ease between the waist and the waistband, so it might be a good idea to go back and check each step and all your markings? Or could the waist have stretched?

NIcole, thank you for the heads up about O + S patterns on ebay; I struck gold with the link you provided and have bought the TParty 2-5 paper pattern. I’ve never made the dress, but have made the playsuit several times. It’s one of my favourite patterns, and with a few more little (but growing) girls to sew for, I’m looking forward making some…[Read more]

Yes, it is what I did in the end of and I had to take in a lot. I just wondering if it is OK to change so much from the original pattern. I am pretty sure the pocket step I did correct, but maybe something else went wrong. I am usually sewing the oliver+s patterns for my kids and never had to change anything from the original pattern because…[Read more]

I had the same issue and needed to re read the instructions carefully. The pockets are really hidden in the seams rather than your typical side seam pocket. If you’ve done all the pleats and darts correctly and the waistband fits the way you want you could take in the back darts and/or center seam to make it match.
