Hi! I’m sewing the terrace dress for the first time. I’m making it for myself to match my daughter’s dress (made from the building block dress book, so fun), and I just found out I’m expecting my 4th baby (hurray!). I’d like the dress to fit me through the summer, so say until about 7 months. For those of you who have sewn it before, is it…[Read more]

Yes, they are moderately dropped because of the sleeve style and the less fitted structure of the dress. I hope that helps!

HI.. hide and seek dress/tunic are the sleeves supposed to be drop shoulder? or no? it seems like the sleeves always fall quite a ways down from shoulder so I ask… thanks..

Apologies for the delay in replying! I finally had a chance to look at this, and it appears that we replaced the dots with notches at the top edge of the front and back skirt pieces. I’ll make a note to fix this on the instructions, and I apologize for the confusion!

Hi Lisa,
Sorry for the late reply. Can you specify which pattern piece you’re referring to. Or which step in the instructions.
Are you working from the paper pattern or a print out if the PDF?
I can look at the printed pattern and see if I can help, but not having made it before I’m not sure which piece has gathering.

The pattern says to stitch the gathering between the dots, I have no dots. Where do I start and stop the stitching?

Hi Heidi. There are heaps of these type of dress patterns out there, especially among the indie pattern companies.
For me, I’d start with the dropped sleeve bodice, so I’d use either the maritime tee, or the weekend getaway patterns for the bodice (for the weekend getaway, just cut on the Gold and omit the facings) then just drafting the length…[Read more] -

Hi everyone! This is my first post to the forum. I have purchased some amazing linen which I plan to dye and would like to recreate a Rachel Craven cocoon dress.
I’m having the hardest time finding a similar pattern. It doesn’t look like a difficult style of dress to make, so I’m wondering if people just make their own patterns when they want to…[Read more]

I’m all about shorts at the moment, so I’d plump for Sandbox pants as shorts with love heart shaped pockets!

Ooh, tough one! Have you asked on the FB group? That’s where most of the discussion is these days, and I’m sure you’d get lots of suggestions if it’s not too late for you to start yet…

I think it should be fine. You might want to interface the neckline just to help it keep its shape, but a drapey fabric might be nice! I hope you’ll show us how it turns out.
