Debbie started the topic Button up button down shirt in the forum sewing with liesl + co and oliver + s 5 years ago
This is my first Oliver S pattern. I’m just now cutting out the shirt and have gotten to the sleeves. The lines to cut a size 8 are different on the sleeve pattern is different than the lines on the rest of the pattern pieces. On the other pieces the lines are _ _ _ and on the sleeve they are _.._.._.. I hope that makes sense. I’m being more…[Read more]

Yes, thank you. Before I posted my question, I saw that there was a visible tie space in the line art; I just couldn’t tell that it was a full inch. I also saw it as I looked back at photos of other’s completed projects—but again, I couldn’t quite tell how much tie space there was. I will certainly alter the collar if I sew this again—I am…[Read more]

Is it when you first start sewing? I have had it want to shift before and simply stopping, lifting the presser foot and readjusting did the trick. Hope you get it sorted 🙂

I have a problem with my serger, for some reason when the fabric is feeding through on the feed dogs its being pulled to the left and away from the needles, does anyone know what’s causing this? And how do you fix it?

Checking to see if you’ve seen this?

Ok, I’ve never heard it referred to as such. If you look at the photos on the pattern listing you can see how much space is designed in the front. One of the photos shows the shirt buttoned up to the very top. I don’t have a shirt to check the space and don’t recall off the top of my head, but it could be as much as an inch.…[Read more]

Of course! Any changes like this will be best made in muslin first, of course. You could certainly add room and then use a pleat to close it back up.

The space between the top of the collar when the collar band is buttoned. Thanks.

I’m not sure what you mean by tie space?

I am sewing the BUBD in a size 3T. The tie space seems to be 1 inch. This seems rather large for a 3T. Well, I think 1 inch would be large for any size. Is this a design choice or is it an error in my construction? Thanks for the help.

Hi Liesl, love made a few of your patterns. I love the classic shirt pattern. I’m always looking for the”perfect” pants pattern. So want to try the Hollywood Trousers. Can pleats/darts be added to front of trousers? I have a flat butt, short crotch, straight hips and big belly. I can get back to fit and hang right but not the front. When I cut…[Read more]

No, I’m sorry, we don’t offer that. But it’s relatively easy to measure the pattern pieces as you need and subtract the seam allowances in order to determine the measurements you want to check.
