Ok I am a bit clueless, what are KAM snaps? I don’t actually use the ones from Liesl because I had bought some already before she stocked them. Mine are from Greenbeans but I have just jumped onto their site to link it and I think I might have the KAM ones you mention as this is what they state they have.
I don’t know the difference really but do…[Read more]

Thank you for all your tips. We have decided on the Amy Butler pattern and have ordered the fabric. Now the big wait until it all gets here.

For the Australians out there where do you buy SnapSetter snaps? You know the ones like are for sale in the Oliver+S store but not so far away! I have bought them before in Australia several years ago and have the tool but don’t remember where.
I do not want the KAM style ones. Google has offered me many options there!
TIA

How about pockets in the side seams? I think the flap pocket position is too small and too high for useful pockets.

You could even do the welt pockets under the flap and topstitch the outline so that it looks fake but is actually real. The downside is that the lovely welt pockets aren’t seen. But it certainly is an idea to include proper ones.

You could make welt pockets or patch pockets. I think our depends on the look you are going for.

I am so glad Melanie helped you, she is so clever at this sort of thing.
Just a thought, my girls are older still, 15, but Empire line is very fashionable for their age group.
I actually hunted down a Laura Ashley pattern that has a similar feel to the Garden Party as they both loved the look. -

Darling Jay! A move can be very overwhelming at the best of times. Hang in there. Soon you will be able to get the sewing things out and get going again. Just take the time to be in the moment with your friends and loved ones and I sincerely hope everything goes very well for the packing part so you and the girls can take off and fly to your…[Read more]

The Birthday Party facing is a clever ‘wrap around it self’ type facing so you would need to be aware of that.

I have abandoned the concept of the Doctor coat – not enough time. I did get a little seat made for Harriet that straps onto Audrey’s wheely suitcase. She’ll have a nice comfortable ride to get on the plane.
No sewing scheduled now, I’m trying to make a mini passport for Harriet, and otherwise, just dealing with farewells!

I loved the edge stitched pleats so much, I went back and edge stitched ALL of my daughter’s uniform skirts and jumpers- even the ready made ones. All 14 of them. Ha!
