@vothgirl, I will email you my recipe, lots of cream and butter but very child friendly.
Don’t bother eating it, just stick it straight on your bum, that it where it will end up 😉I only make it on special occasions.
Sweet potatoes, excellent!

@motherof5 the kedgeree looks interesting! I’ve never heard of it before, one of the things I love about this thread. And yes, yams = sweet potatoes (they may be different plants but for all intents and purposes are interchangeable in recipes). I would imagine the sweetness of the yams plays nicely against the sharp salty Gruyere :-).

Cybele, that is very exciting to move into your own space 🙂
I sewed up some Christmas bunting yesterday (Boxing Day). I got given a pre printed panel this year.
We’re in the process of swapping over the study and the spare room (where all the sewing stuff (fabric) )is stored. It will be a good opportunity to take stock of what I have! -

Yum Ladies, I will try those.

Oh! that looks incredible! I totally cheated and bought the stollen and the christmas cake, not to mention a tonne of fruit mince pies! We were given shortbread on Christmas Eve – but you have to keep food under lock and key around here to even get a look in.
Christmas morning breakfast was just the usual – porridge’ but we all had to eat before…[Read more]

Janice, I LOVE my girl’s wearing other people’s sewing hand-me-downs. If no one closer claims it, I would love it and I will pay postage/combine with a fabric order from your shop.
Tildy loves Julia, she would be so excited to have it.Trixie has so many hand sewn and knitted items from all her sewing Aunties. It is very very special.

I’d love to donate this jacket – probably worn once – to one of my fellow O+S lovers – https://www.flickr.com/photos/janice4839/12080595775/ – it was already on the small size, and my kid is NOT fan of the collar. It really looks brand new. I believe it’s a straight size 4 (if I believe my own blog post) – here -…[Read more]

I made poteca (pronounced po-TEE-tsah) for our Christmas breakfast – it’s what my dad’s family had for Christmas breakfast every year as he grew up and it was passed on. My husband was more than happy to continue such a delicious tradition. Basically, it’s a filled & rolled sweet pastry. The recipe is very similar to this one:…[Read more]

I make this immensely popular dish 3 times a year– Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter. It is very very rich and frankly would kill you if you ate it more often.
The recipe comes from our big local chain, which has a weird cult like following.…[Read more]
