That’s exactly Reeni was talking about with Fairy Tale—I made the view with sleeves, so never read the sleeveless view LOL. That worked perfectly! Now I just need to hand stitch it. WOOOT!
I’m really bad at explaining things some days. I probably should’ve uploaded a pic.

Great ideas Kerrilyn, lots of food, sleep and exercise works for my only boy. He had broken two (yes two) very expensive European irons throwing his footy in the house.
I am very glad to live on a farm, he was encouraged to start hiking and camping from a very young age 🙂

Masha did a few of these. I think she bound the arm so the binding was inclosed (all on the inside).

Mmmmm I’ll need to look at fairy tale and see.
My pre-made binding is on the bias, so I’m good there. I just don’t like the way it looks with the dark navy at the arm holes vs at the neck only. I will play!

I can relate, I have 5 boys from 17yo down to 5yo. Boys are hard work! They have heaps of energy and not always the most sensible creatures. They do tend to slow up in there mid to late teens. In the mean time here are some things I try.
Get them directed from the start of my day so that I am on a positive to start. Spending time with them…[Read more]

I’m really just looking for ideas of where to go and what to see/ do. We will be there June 12-15. I am running the Nike Women’s 15K on the 14th. I know nothing about the area. I have been Googling and reading as much about Toronto as I can. It’s just nice to learn insider knowledge from a local. 🙂

the armhole would work well with bias tape I think? Like the Fairy Tale view B? but not ready-made binding cut on the straight grain. You could alternatively do a facing and cut it out of any fabric.

I try to every so often separate my kids — boy is 10, girl is 6…
The simplest thing we do together is read a book — something with a girl character that her brother would not ever be into. Or we dance with big flouncy skirts on, or I let her do “makeover” — weird hairstyles, painting nails, doing crazy eye shadow patterns using the colors I’d…[Read more] -

That’s pretty much what I would do 🙂 But someone else may have a better idea.

Nicole Thanks for the sizing tip (on the skirt thread) for the lullaby layette bodysuit. It’s already basically done (just needs snaps) in 0-3 months from a knit fabric so it should accommodate the fluffy cloth diaper bum. I’ll have to remember to size up any woven ones I make!

Ok, So I think I want to make this sleeveless. I’ve never done a hidden binding before, and I don’t have enough of the main fabric to cut binding and have it blend with the fabric. I *DO* have pre-made binding that would fit.
Am I making too much out of the process or can I just sew the binding on sort like quilt binding, and just fold…[Read more]

I am in the U.S. but I have also noticed a problem with the site loading – it has been at least a month, and it happens on both my computer and my husband’s iPad. I always have to go up to the search bar on my browser and hit enter to make it reload before it will load up. If I don’t do that, it just says “loading” indefinitely. This is for the…[Read more]

yes, dates are great! I’m trying to squeeze in as much time as I can before she starts school. The boys just suck every ounce of attention and energy.

This is where we used to get notchers (and most other pattern making supplies) when I worked in the industry. http://mrecht.com.au/haberdashery/design-and-pattern-room-accessories/pattern-notchers/pattern-notcher/
I don’t own any personally, but they were very useful when making patterns in card.

My daughter and I go on mommy-and-me dates. We actually started this when I was pregnant with my son (so, she was 3), and we have continued doing it because it’s a nice way for us to reconnect. It’s never anything over the top, sometimes a coffee date, other times a quick dinner and treat, or even the fabric store, but it’s helpful. I stay very…[Read more]
