That Ban Rol technique looks amazing. I will have to see if I can get some locally.
My sewing machine really does not like to do a basting stitch–the tension is never right on it. Very frustrating.

I am sorry Masha.
If it is any comfort, the moonboot offers a lot of support. Jed polished all our timber floors wearing one.All the best with the birth, I will be thinking of you.

Sewing for Yourself 10 years agoThe skirt is the pattern that I found most intriguing. I <3 skirts! I wear them almost exclusively in the summer. I like that it is a wrap skirt for ease, but the slit up the front concerns me. I, like a lot of women, am not comfortable with my thighs and fear this may show more than I am comfortable with. I know it can be lengthened, but at 5’4″…[Read more]

So this baby is due in a week and a half. My husband has been on crutches for the last week with a presumed sprain. Today’s X-ray confirmed my suspicion that it is not just a sprain. He will find out for sure on Thursday but the specialist suspects he will need surgery to fix a bone that regrew improperly after an undiagnosed fracture sustained…[Read more]

Made my son a pair of swim trunks using the Sunny Day shorts pattern yesterday. Tonight I will cut out another Cosi swimsuit for my oldest girl with plans to sew it up tomorrow.

Sewing for Yourself 10 years agoI really like both top patterns and will be purchasing as soon as I have a little extra “me” money. The Gallery top looks like it would be the perfect top (made in a voile or gauze) to throw on over a tank top or camisole for the slightly cooler summer nights at the beach. I probably won’t make it as a dress as I like my dresses to be more…[Read more]

Sewing for Yourself 10 years agoI love the Gallery so much, I just wish it was a two piece collar. I can see it becoming another Portfolio dress. Hunted down and sort after.
The Maritime is divine, such a slimming and flattering style.
The skirt is so cute, I am concerned how it will look on me as I have a very thick waist and poochy tummy but I love it.
I can see how much…[Read more]

Sewing for Yourself 10 years agoI am so excited about the new tops. In fact, my patterns arrived this afternoon and I have the Gallery all traced off waiting for the kids to go to bed. #teampaper 🙂
I have been nervous about sewing for myself, but I KNOW with your patterns I don’t need to worry. They will be drafted well and come with great instructions. I have made the…[Read more]

Sewing for Yourself 10 years agoI can definitely see myself making all three. The skirt will probably come first, especially if I can make it fit onto a remnant of thick wool jersey that I have. I think it will make a smashing winter skirt.
The maritime top will undoubtedly get made, but I may already be at saturation point with my store bought St James tops. But at the price…[Read more] -

I started a pair of Field Trip cargos this weekend – the fiddle bits on the pockets and the faux fly slow me down sometimes, but I powered through and finished on Monday. My husband emailed me at work to let me know that DS hunted hem down to wear this morning. He asked if they should go through the wash first, and she said, “the only thing on…[Read more]

I think you have to sew something (no pressure) as I really enjoy seeing your fit and precision! I love your idea of the shirt and maxi skirt. If you’re staying at the hotel then you could iron your clothes and change there? How about doing the shirt/skirt in two different jewel-like colours? Like a red washed silk blouse and more structured…[Read more]
