Heidi did you recieve an email regarding some sort of bungle with one of the Colette patterns? A scam or something? I didn’t read it properly because time has been lacking of late.
On my sewing table are still the hopscotch dresses still to be hemmed and also some pairs of playtime leggings, mostly in different shade of pink because I want to…[Read more]

I’m making myself another pair of leggings with a matching Colette Mabel Skirt. I’ve discovered now that the temperature has dropped I don’t quite have enough leggings to last all week. Now I’ll have 4 different sets of matching leggings and Mabels, teal, burgandy, black and this charchol/navyish set, and they all mix and match 🙂

Just picked up my daughter, Elsa, (15) from work experience at an animal reserve.
She handled everything from pythons to possums and even minded a monkey!

That is very frustrating to have to redo the changes 🙁 But at least once you get down to the nearly finished pile hopefully you’ll see results fairly quickly 🙂

I’m in aaaaargh mode. I have a stack of UFOs that need things like hemming, sewing down the free end of the neckline facings, and buttons. DD is particularly adamant that I finish a shirt with unicorns on it. And I’m facing a deadline on a writing project. So, naturally, last night seemed like a great time to trace a pattern for me and try to…[Read more]

Then perhaps consider a cloth with some stretch.
I made a maternity version in wool spandex and it gave me quite a bit of ease.(I would post a link but I am worried the whole photo would appear and no one needs to see that huge belly here)

I agree that muslin is the best route to take but my aunt lives overseas 🙁
Ok, so I’ll do size 4 with FBA and check the ease amount on the waist/hip again. Thanks for all your input! 🙂

Reeni started the topic Pirate costumes with O+S… in the forum sewing with liesl + co and oliver + s 10 years ago

the kids’ spring show had a pirates premise, so of course they both drew long coats when I asked what they wanted to wear. After some thought, I modified the School Days Coat for both of them — hers with some shaping out of jacquard, his with no shaping out of poplin and satin.. Her pants are Puppet Show shorts lengthened to below the knee,…[Read more]

Don’t you love when the fabric gets to decide?
After a busy few days I am still yet to complete the hopscotch dresses. Just the hems to do though.
I pulled out my basket of knit remnants and have been fishing through sorting them out by colour. It is the project for the long weekend, to try and use up as much of it as I can with the playtime…[Read more]

Reeni replied to the topic Tips for fabric shopping in New York in the forum off topic 10 years ago
I’d say the City Quilter exclusives if you want to commemorate your trip, and Tinsel Trading… also the shops that cater to costuming for stage. I think everything else could be found in CA if you looked hard enough…

Sewed up a pair of lengthened Sunny Day shorts in chambray with embroidered anchors and a Colette Sorbetto top for me, me, ME!!!
The lengthened Sunny Day shorts don’t want to be sewn in navy linen. This makes twice now. For the sake of my sanity, I’m going to respect their decision.
Ruffled halters are up next…
