Ah, I have sewn for a Bay Area winter baby before! I made the pants in flannel, lined with double gauze and the other way around, gauze lined with flannel, worked out to be quite comparable to pinwale cord in weight. The mama reported they were a great weight for the weather there, should you find yourself fabric shopping for another set down the road.

Ok, great to know — the very first set of patterns were a little bit different in how some of the info was presented, compared to the protocol used now, and I suspect that a box I’m seeing on my pattern sheet that has some numbers in it like 30201, 1/1 – 1/2 REV may be the older way that versions were noted, but I don’t know how to interpret…[Read more]

Good reminder to everyone who uses digital patterns. Ours are made with Adobe Acrobat and are guaranteed to work when you view and print them with Adobe Reader. If you use a different PDF viewer, the chances are good that the file will not print perfectly.

Hi everyone. I’m a mum from New Zealand with two girls aged three and one. I discovered Oliver + S when I was pregnant with my first and I have been in love ever since. At first my only option to source them was to have them shipped from the US so when digital versions started to become available there was a lot of dancing and arm waving in my…[Read more]

Lucky you, Heidi!! 11 hours-that’s quite a marathon. Hope you had plenty of cuppas to keep you going. I know the Cotton and Steel fabric you mentioned and it should make some lovely stuff. Just finished 3 quilts myself in the last week. All were half completed, and it had become embarrassing that I hadn’t delivered them so a week’s hard work, and…[Read more]

@rebecca Hi Rebecca, if you are still looking for a paper version of the Sailboat pattern, I would like to offer you mine – free of charge. I have been ‘offline’ for a couple of weeks, and I asked dubhels to make this offer on my behalf. She did so but there was no reply from you. Perhaps you have been able to find the pattern, elsewhere. My…[Read more]

Spent a lovely day sewing with a friend. I hadn’t realised we had spent 11 hours sewing until her husband sent their kids to bed!
I finished the quilt for my husband and did quite a bit on a denim quilt I’m making.
My lovely friends also went through her “scraps” for me. I came home with 5 shopping bags full including the horse print from…[Read more] -

Hi Nancy, congratulations! Lots of wonderful sewing adventures ahead. I have made two coat/pants outfits from pinwale corduroy using the Layette pattern (only sad that it wasn’t “invented” when some of my ‘clients’ were younger). The pinwale is perfect for babies – you’ll remember from your own mothering days that babies wear nappies, singlets,…[Read more]

Ditto Shelley; Good luck Sandra spreading the O + S good news; the patterns are splendid, and this forum is extremely friendly, supportive, and provides practical help for sewists of every level.

Shouldn’t be a problem. I’ve done it with non-stretchy interlock for boys clothes without a problem. Photo here – the stripes are interlock and the teal is jersey: https://www.flickr.com/photos/23557464@N03/13439957983/in/album-72157651963159780/

Pinwale corduroy or even denim (for baby jeans) would be perfect!
What a wonderful event to be looking forward to and to sew for! Congratulations!
