sosew started the topic Help finding this coat pattern! in the forum off topic 10 years ago
I lost my beloved coat last winter (sad but it was 9 years old and on its last leg, I wouldn’t havr been able to give it up otherwise).
I would like to make one like it, it was like these, my favorite parts were the stand up collar, the dress like shape under the seam, and the tailored upper part
Does anyone know of a pattern like this or a few…[Read more]

Liesl’s FBA instructions are top notch. I was leery of trying it when I first started sewing for myself, but I shouldn’t have been.

Thank you for the photo. I love your choice of fabric for your dress. It depends how much too loose it is. You could try tacking the side seams in by the amount you need and see how it looks but if you have a smaller bust size you might need a more radical alteration.

I would think so, but I’m not an expert fitter — @motherof5?

@lightningmcstitch yes I do have a pic! @hazel I’ll attach it below. Liesl’s instructions made it so very easy!
I’m actually in the position of needing to alter that lovely eggplant chambray cinema dress I made because it is too loose, what would be the easiest way to size it down? Just pinch in at the sides?

Thank you all for responses, so helpful. I have checked them all out and found a photo set on the first sewalong Liesl wrote on this dress last year. Based on all advice I’ve now ordered the pattern and will make a muslin but use the swedish paper to trace first. I think this will make a lovely dress for autumn (fall)!

I just discovered this thread and thought I would add a couple of comments.
For wool fabrics my geographic location is quite an advantage when it comes to looking for ethical sources.
I live in New Zealand so I can very easily source merino wool fabrics where every step of the fabric manufacture process has occurred domestically. It won’t always…[Read more]

I have finished N’s monochrome outfit. A roller skate tunic and some playtime leggings. I was inspired by Sarvi’s blog post on photographing children and even snapped some shots of N in her outfit doing some twirls and curtsies on our deck. My Nana had coincidentally just finished knitting her a grey, double breasted jacket from a vintage pattern…[Read more]

I love the fact you did a rerelease. Considering what was going on behind the scenes with a move to different country, I can understand it might have been a tiny sanity saver. I am looking forward to the reveal of the next project though – that sounds very exciting!
I am also thrilled you decided to go to a 14 with this skirt. It means that when…[Read more]
