Thank you all for responses, so helpful. I have checked them all out and found a photo set on the first sewalong Liesl wrote on this dress last year. Based on all advice I’ve now ordered the pattern and will make a muslin but use the swedish paper to trace first. I think this will make a lovely dress for autumn (fall)!

I just discovered this thread and thought I would add a couple of comments.
For wool fabrics my geographic location is quite an advantage when it comes to looking for ethical sources.
I live in New Zealand so I can very easily source merino wool fabrics where every step of the fabric manufacture process has occurred domestically. It won’t always…[Read more]

I have finished N’s monochrome outfit. A roller skate tunic and some playtime leggings. I was inspired by Sarvi’s blog post on photographing children and even snapped some shots of N in her outfit doing some twirls and curtsies on our deck. My Nana had coincidentally just finished knitting her a grey, double breasted jacket from a vintage pattern…[Read more]

I love the fact you did a rerelease. Considering what was going on behind the scenes with a move to different country, I can understand it might have been a tiny sanity saver. I am looking forward to the reveal of the next project though – that sounds very exciting!
I am also thrilled you decided to go to a 14 with this skirt. It means that when…[Read more]

Hi,
Is the swingset skirt the only “new” pattern being released? I am sorry to say that if this is the case I am a little bit disappointed, sorry… I was really looking forward the new patterns.Rita Tadeu

I thought I had step by step photos of this, but can’t seem to find them. I think Patricia (whose screen name I’ve forgotten, sorry!) has a pic of the Cinema side panel pattern piece, where the adjustment happens, slashed and spread.

Hi @hazel , I did a FBA on the Late Lunch tunic, there a some pics here http://fiveandcounting-motherof5.blogspot.com.au/2014/09/fba-all-way.html which may help you visualise the adjustment to the Cinema dress.
Sorry not to be more help.

Hi
Thanks for the fast response. Yes the adjustments I have made have been based on my high bust measurement which is a US 14 (I’m in the UK). Then there is 4 inch difference between my high and full bust so knowing the cup size the pattern is designed on helps. Some indie designers are using a bigger cup size so it is not always obvious unless…[Read more] -

@hazel hello, the short answer is B cup. The longer, and very well written answer is in this blog post:
It details how to find the right size for your shoulders, and then adjust the bust accordingly.
Hope that helps. -

Thanks @cybele727 I went on a mad monochrome cutting spree. Butterick skirt and top for me, play date dress, jump rope dress and swingset skirt and top for my daughter.
So far the Playdate is sewn… -

I would like to know the cup size that the cinema dress is designed for. I am new to doing full bust adjustments and all the tops I have made since taking up sewing again have needed an adjustment to fit properly.

Hi All.
I thought I’d bump this up to remind everyone who is doing the monochrome project that we are nearing the “reveal” date.

But becareful of what you use to mark the pleats. Make sure it is washable. I wouldn’t know anything about that! 🙂
