I made these for my baby girl https://www.flickr.com/photos/motherof5/17417326175/in/album-72157649752898567/ ( not O+S, blush) and I pointed the Chevrons downwards even though they were across the grain on the fabric.
I made my older daughter a coat from the same cloth ( I purchased a bolt) and I did the same. Both garments are wearing well with…[Read more]

@AmyF how very kind of you.
If she is only 8 I am wondering of she is only really after width? I have sewn for a obese child and her I found that was he case for her. I think what I would do is too split the front dress panel in half and add a few inches to the that.
I would add the same to the front bands and add quite a bit to the waist one…[Read more]

Sew Alongs 10 years agoI got so many compliments when I wore my coat to work – from other teachers AND from students so its appeal crosses generational lines! I just got some wool/cashmere fabric from Mood (by mail) and it is so lovely I might cry a little. I am planning to make another in the next week or two.

I hope you guys can help me!
I’ve been asked to sew a baptism dress for an 8 year old little girl, that is a size 14/16 youth. She is overweight and already developing, so the mom likes the style of the garden party dress to hide her buds.
I made this dress in a size 10 for my daughter, so we tried the dress on her and it was tight. We…[Read more]

I have a wonderful herringbone wool. I have never used herringbone and I have a question about how I should look at this pattern.
I am not sure whether I should look at this pattern as lots of “V” going across the fabric, or I should look at this pattern as lots of upside down “V”, like an arrow that is missing a straight line in the middle,…[Read more]

Sew Alongs 10 years agoSo, before I get cracking, is this what a flat felled seam should look like from the outside? I’ve never done one before! This is not ironed and seam allowances weren’t measured, just having a test! Thank you.

Just wondering about the definition of a mashup. Is it limited to combining 2 or more Oliver and S patterns or can it also include changing up an Oliver and S pattern and combining an Oliver and S pattern with another pattern.
I hope and suspect that all these options are fine as we are a generous and relaxed community, but I thought I’d just check 🙂 -

This is just a playful ( no pun intended!) question to Liesl and her team. The ‘Play’ section of your website is something I have not seen on any other sewing pattern website; do you have plans to add some of the newer styles to the dolls’ wardrobes?

😃 @jwo until you’ve tried to intubate a rabbit, you know nothing of difficult airways!
I’d find all of that fascinating! -

@lightningmcstitch, I’m sure you are!!💪🏻💪🏻 I’m going for a conference but with a bit of imagination there could be something in it for you:
“The difficult airway: no larynx in view, now what do I do?”; “obstructive sleep apnea and ambulatory surgery”; “problems in geriatric anesthesia”; and “anaesthetic neurotoxicity: can we reduce the…[Read more] -

For a second there I was thinking… “Wow! We’ve got until May!!! I can go all out with this one!”
Then I realised it was just a dating convention difference.
2/5 is 2nd of May to a New Zealander. But 5th February is fine for an end date too. 🙂

I’m going to NYC for a week in mid-December although I imagine I will have to rely on your recommendations for great shops. I love Purl Soho and the garment district and can’t wait to look for the button shop Sarvi mentioned…
