Claire, I’ve seen in other patterns that you should fold your fabric right sides together for double thickness, right side up for single thickness.
Hope it helps!
It is a great pattern. So easy, and such a good final result! -

I’m struggling to understand which way up to have my pattern on the fabric. Should I put the pattern on the wrong or right side of the fabric ?

I made this top and normaly have to do a FBA on all my dreses and tops but on this pattern I did not have to and love the fit. I guess because of the knit fabric? I am very happy with the over all fit of this one. I hope go get pictures posted soon but I still have yet to get my skirt sewn to match.

That sounds like great advice, Tarama (@justsewit)! And I’m flattered that you turned to one of our pattern to learn the technique, @carries12345. Keep us posted on how it turns out!

Hi @carries12345 I am very glad you managed to get the sba sorted because the bustro is such a lovely dress. I made this for daugther’s interview to her new high school last year and it turned out beautifully.
In terms of your question on blending, what I would do is first measure your front waist and compare this measurement to the pattern to…[Read more]

Hi, after many sewing fails due to bust issues, I finally decided to use this pattern to learn how to properly do a SBA. Who better than to teach me than Liesl, right? 🙂
I’ve completed the pattern piece alteration and taped it back to the skirt piece. Since I did a 1/2″ SBA, my skirt piece is now wider than my bodice piece by 1/2″. The…[Read more]

Heirloom Sewing and Embroidery 10 years agoI was all prepared to be amazed by this picture but I for some reason cannot see it!😕 I am sure you did a superb job nonetheless. My daughter’s confirmation isn’t until November next year so I guess it is my turn to look about. We don’t do veils though and I am guessing there will be specifications as to how much of the “more” we are allowed – I…[Read more]

Heirloom Sewing and Embroidery 10 years agoso the angst with regard to a magnum opus was not unfounded, but i am overall pleased with the result. I drafted a princess-seamed full circle skirt with long sleeves.
Silk dupioni lined in cotton voile, with embroidered organza sleeves and veil. I bought silk organza and was going to do the embroidery myself, but chanced upon some leftover from…[Read more] -

Practice the dart with some scraps before you sew it! You might want a little stabilizer, too, depending on your fabric.

Thanks Lightning and Liesl, I guess I will do the FBA. I have never done a knit shirt for myself before. It should be fun sewing. I hope.

I think it depends on your fabric, too. But yes, if you have a 4″ difference between your high and regular bust measurements, I’d think you’ll probably want to do a FBA.
I’m working on a peplum top from this pattern right now. I’m using a very drapey woven fabric, so I’ve gone up 4 sizes to get an oversized look. But I think if I had a fuller…[Read more]

@cat75 I’ll preface my response by saying I have no bust so haven’t done so myself, but I suspect you should.
It’s a top with a moderately wide neckline and a dropped shoulder. If you go with your full bust size you might find the whole thing too saggy sack like.
With a decent high/full bust difference if you fit to your high bust/shoulder it may…[Read more] -

I am planning to make one of these Maritime tops in Knit. Did anyone decide if a FBA is needed?
Oh, my measurements are 32 high, 36 mid?, and 30 low (right under the bust, rib cage I guess). Just because I love having my measurements floating around on the internet. -

I got this photo through the other day. All the girls made one for their mums so I thought I would share it here and wish everyone a Happy Mother’s day.
