Heirloom Sewing and Embroidery 9 years ago@justsewit No, she’s just on 9 weeks, but she’s BIG! She’s just under the 97th percentile, and projecting her growth on the graph in her MACH book, she’ll be 19lb by September (the patterns mostly seem to measure in pounds, so that’s how I worked it out).
The Tiffany gown pattern looks gorgeous, but it only goes up to 6 month size (by Primrose…[Read more] -

I’m sewing nothing! We are moving this summer and I had to pack away all the sewing machines and supplies to make the apartment more palatable to buyers who dont consider that stuff reasonable decor. Can you imagine?! 😉 I made the mistake of ordering two things from Spoonflower knowing that I couldn’t do anything with them. So now they’re just…[Read more]

Nicole, the instructions for the blazer would be quite involved, but the grading would be a nightmare! Maybe someday, but I need to rest my brain after writing that book. (Which is why I just jumped into writing some very detailed Liesl + Co patterns for fall, apparently???)
Can’t wait to see how the blazer turned out!

I spent the past 5 weeks altering prom dresses, and have had the first 2 wedding gowns of the season come in this week, so my poor serger and sewing machine have really been put to task!
When not dealing with lace, sequins or beads, I’ve been selfish sewing like crazy. Since the first of May, I’ve made myself 3 blouses (spring2016 Vogue 1507,…[Read more]

Hi from Gabriola Island
I found the twin of the ruler you stock, Liesl – a C-thru 6″ with both inch and metric markings, perfect for those of us in metric countries:

Whoops sorry @liesl I completely forgot you already carry one😳. I have one similar but it is only in inches not metric also. They are very handy little gadgets but sometimes you need to revert back and “translate” and with mine it is sligtly tricky without the use of a calculator (and even that is a mindbender).

I finished my sons blazer, finally. It was a big sew. I now know why Liesl is not keen to make a kiddy size pattern…
Next, jeans for me!

Heirloom Sewing and Embroidery 9 years agoI love a shorter gown with matching knickers. Simple batiste with maybe some pin tucking?

Nicole replied to the topic sugestions for sewing machines in the forum off topic 9 years ago
@rebecca, it is much faster then a household machine and far more powerful.
It will sew a buttonhole on anything, even canvas (I am talking about tarp canvas). It has a range of stitches, just like a domestic one.
I adore it.

First in the new series of GBSB and one of the contestants was wearing a cinema dress. I am such a geek for spotting it! Next week is children’s sewing week.

@motherof5 I think you have the Bernina 950? I’m considering to buy one that is used; I already have a Bernina active 125 (15 years old, household Bernina). I just want something *faster*, but not super interested in an industrial straight-stitch only. I like the Bernina semi-industrial, because it still has zig zag!
Do you have a household…[Read more]
