Are you wanting to use Fairy Tale/Book Report because those are the patterns you already own? If you need to find out whether that exact combo has been done before, I’d suggest either editing the title of this thread, or posting a new question, in hopes of catching the eye of somebody who’s done that specific thing. I did a search of the flickr…[Read more]

Those two are great options, but my daughter is turning 10. Those patterns are in the smaller size range. I still would like to know if the sleeves are interchangable between patterns. Has anyone done that?

Do you have an image of a particular dress that feels the most Little House to you? The Playdate seems closest to me, and wouldn’t require any mashing, but you might have a different image in mind:

another idea and pardon me it it sounds dumb (but I had to figure this out since it was not in my manual), when you insert your needles, insert the one that needs to be shorter first as it must go deeper into the machine so it is shorter than the other. In my machine the left needle has to go in further, and if I do not insert it first, the right…[Read more]

I know you changed the needle but you may want to try another brand. I only use top brands but my serger was also breaking needles and if the needle didn’t break immediately it would skip stitches. Supposedly it could take the same size needles as my regular machine, Type E or 130/705H. I had tried Schmetz , so next I tried Klasse and lo and…[Read more]

Well, it’s bent then. What a pain.
Have a go if you feel confident too.

@spinny, Thank you!
She loves that dress and is wearing it for a second season *bonus*
The chest measurement is a great place to start, at least you know it will do up!
Babies come is all shapes and sizes. I made this https://www.flickr.com/photos/motherof5/5018893031/in/album-72157625264790776/ for my now 7 year old and her baby sister (not 2)…[Read more]

Hallo @hannahjosie, this is the bit where you have an internet random giving advice so take it with care 😉
I had a similar problem with a second hand overlocker (serger) I purchased.
I hope I am not stating the obvious but change your needle just in case that is bent.As my machine was second hand and we live in the country (no repair place) I…[Read more]

I recently bought a new serger, my last tore up and it would cost just as much to fix it as to buy a different. I made the mistake of buying a used one and now it makes an awful clunking sound. The arm that is below one of the bottom looper smacks the needle every time I sew, should I buy a new part or just try to bend it back?

Thank you @motherof5 Nicole,
Little Miss didn’t seem bothered at all by the length, so I think I’ll leave it in, and eventually she’ll grow into it. There is room in the shoulders too (she doesn’t fill them to the darts yet), so I hope she can wear it for a couple years at her growing rate…
Lovely dress you made for your daughter (and what a…[Read more] -

Hi Nicole,Thank you for checking. Sorry I didn’t get back to you. Late night and busy day. Yes it did. I had similar trouble to others with printing where it kept printing at 7/8inch. I had it on the 100% – which on Mac (or Canon) is same as no scale. I’m not sure if it was the Mac or Canon driving the options but in my print dialogue box there…[Read more]

Hi @spinny , I have only made the largest size http://fiveandcounting-motherof5.blogspot.com.au/2015/05/lovely-girl.html and I had to add a few inches to make it hit my daughters knees and she is short to average height.
The petite nature of your daughter may have resulted in the fit?
Better too long 🙂
I would just shorten it, if its causing…[Read more]

Hi,
I made a little Carousel in size 2yrs. The photo on the front let me think it would be about knee length, however, it turned out much much longer than that in the 2yrs size. Admittedly, my little model is petite, but still, it looks like the whole length of the hem should have not been there.
Am I the only one in this situation? Have I made…[Read more]
