Eleanor started the topic Fusible interfacing for knit Playtime dress in the forum oliver + s: playtime 1 year ago
Hi, I’m making the Playtime dress out of knit fabric but am a super novice with knits. My lightweight fusible interfacing stretches in one direction but not the other. Am I looking to preserve some stretch in the dress facing pieces (so should align the stretchy direction of the interfacing with the direction of the knit fabric with more…[Read more]

Following your advice to measure an existing tee, I used XL-D cup and blended it out to XXL from high hip down. After I made my toile, I decided to shorten the shoulder seam by 1/2″. Very pleased with the fit!

Hi Mimi,
The best way to check is to do a mock layout with your pattern pieces. Bias usually takes more fabric than straight grain, so it’s always best to check before you buy the fabric. I hope that helps!

Hi,

Say, for example you wanted the Book Report sleeve on the Fairy Tale dress: trace the Book Report bodice/upper dress part and lay that tracing over the Fairy Tale bodice. Try and line up centre fronts and/or shoulder and side seams.…[Read more] -

Hi – I was wondering if the amount of fabric for View B is enough for a bias cut skirt? In my case, is 1 yard of 58″ wide fabric for a size 0 enough fabric to cut on the bias?
Thanks!

It’s tricky to pick a size for a knit tee based on the fit of a woven jacket. I’d suggest that you might be happiest by comparing the measurements of a tee you already own and like–that way you’ll be more assured to get a fit that makes you happy.

Liesl Gibson replied to the topic Terrace–fabric and flattery in the forum liesl + co: terrace dress 1 year ago
The Terrace is a loose fitting dress, and in general I would say that drapey fabrics are most suitable for it. Linen and rayon are great options. Lawn would work although it’s not very drapey. It’s lightweight enough to be ok. Broadcloth would probably be a bit heavy, I think.

Liesl Gibson replied to the topic Building Block Dress Placket in the forum oliver + s: building block dress 1 year ago
I’ve sewn that placket in micro cord and didn’t find it to be bulky at all, but if you’re concerned you could always choose a contrast lightweight fabric. Either one should be fine!
