      Lovely blouse
    Reviewed by bobbie on 10/01/2024
I got this pattern because I felt I would actually wear it as a blouse or a dress, so I appreciated it had both options. I would say it was an advanced beginner level because some of the finishing was a bit odd to try to understand for me, but once I was able to see where the directions were going, I understood the construction. And it is SUCH a flattering fit! I really love the finished product - made it with linen.

      Fira dress pattern
Reviewed by Anna ( Verified Buyer) on 07/21/2024
I have intermediate sewing skills and enjoyed making a toile to check the fit. Using the body measurements chart, I printed sizes 0 for my bust and 4 for my hips so had to do some blending. Since this dress has a yoke, it would have been helpful to have a hip line marked on the pattern pieces since the lengthen/shorten line would not have worked for me - normal length torso but short legs! I used the pocket placement markings in conjunction with the photos to work out if I needed to shorten the pattern. I found that I will need to go one size up for the top of the dress to get the it over my head easily and have to make a few adjustments for my body shape but will make again because I like the design.

      Great Pattern for Advanced Beginner
    Reviewed by Sarah on 03/03/2024
This is a great pattern for an advanced beginner. I found the fit to be very flattering and I thought the instructions were easy to follow. I liked that it's adjustable based on bust size as I felt this helped me get a good fit. I loved that the seams were tucked in along the shoulders and the back, makes the garment look so clean!

      Fira Top
Reviewed by Jo L ( Verified Buyer) on 11/01/2023
I am pretty obsessed with this top, it's one of my favorite patterns. I haven't tried the dress, but I have made three tops in linen. I usually choose more basic patterns, so this was a little bit of a challenge for me, but doable. The hardest part is piecing the yoke to the rest of the shirt and matching the lines. I also had trouble managing the lengthen/shorten line, because the front and back are different lengths. Some instructions about that would be helpful. There are a few things I would change though, like a smaller armscye and making the back gathers more pronounced. But, those are manageable alterations. I've gotten so many compliments on this shirt, it looks like it must be hard to make, so people are impressed with my skills, but I would say I'm a confident beginner/low intermediate sewist and this is within my ability, albeit it takes a while (I think about 8 hours or so?). It's also pretty slimming and looks good out or tucked in. I definately recommend this pattern. If the armscye were fixed I would give it 5 stars, but for now 4 stars. I can't comment on the dress version yet though.

I love this dress! The pattern was clever-- unusually structured but perfect outcome with no handsewing! Very flattering on a middle-aged lumpy body. I'm already making a second one.

Love the choice of cup size!
Reviewed by Shelly Joy ( Verified Buyer) on 09/13/2022
I really liked this pattern. I made the top out of medium weight navy linen and it looks just like the picture on the pattern. So happy about the cup size choices, I followed the measuring instructions and it fits perfectly. I will be making the dress next. Please make more patterns with cup sizes! I was able to make this in a day because I didn't have to do any alterations 😊.

LOVE the look of this top/dress, but unfortunately it was incredibly difficult and I was unable to find any tutorials or guidance online. It’s laying in a rejected pile on my sewing table with the hopes of making some napkins or something to repurpose the material.

Reviewed by Holly Schafer ( Verified Buyer) on 05/31/2022
This is one of the easiest patterns I have ever made. The instructions were clear and I didn’t think there were any tricky techniques. I have been sewing for over 40 years and this was one of the best patterns I have ever used in terms of the instructions. I haven’t worn the top yet but I feel like I will make the dress next, with a few alterations.

      Excellent Pattern
Reviewed by Susan ( Verified Buyer) on 02/09/2022
Due to a change in my body shape I couldn't find an off-the-rack dress for a family wedding that I felt comfortable in. I had been admiring the pattern for a while, so I thought I would give it try (limited dressmaking experience). I usually gravitate to video tutorials but I found the PDF pattern clear and easy to follow. Anything technique I wasn't sure of, I googled a random video before proceeding. I used a cotton poplin and I was able to make some small adjustments along the way to suit me. I enjoyed wearing the dress and look forward to making some tops as well.

      Not really for beginners
    Reviewed by Kim on 02/07/2022
I started this sewing project during the Christmas holidays (many weeks ago) when I had some time to devote to it, but I did find it a little tricky especially towards the end. I have't actually finished this project yet because there were parts of the instructions that just didn't make sense to me. Maybe I do better with video tutorials? Anyways, look forward to finishing this one day, but I don' t really think it should be categorised as a beginner project unless there are further instructions.

I find that the sizing of these patterns is so reliable across the range … once you have determined your measurements I find the fit of the finished garment is so accurate … often I err on the larger size because I am nervous the finished garment won’t fit … but with these patterns I never have to worry!! This is such a great pattern! If you follow the instructions you can’t go wrong!!

      Accessible for Novice Sewer
Reviewed by AF ( Verified Buyer) on 11/23/2021
This is my very first garment I've sewn and the only part I struggled with was attaching the back to the yoke. The instructions were super clear; the necessary techniques easy to find tutorials for. I need to add some mods to the muslin to make the armscye a little smaller and the neckline a little deeper. In my inexpert execution, the neckline for my size is just small enough that I need to take my hair down to get my head through, so I'm going to try again with another muslin before moving on to my real fabric.

      Fira tops
Reviewed by Crystal ( Verified Buyer) on 11/23/2021
I made three tops out of this pattern. The first two I made with cotton, one with a beautiful Japanese cotton and the second one with a LIberty tana lawn. I added on the sleeves from the Verdun top to make them long-sleeved, and that worked well, except that I needed to add width at the top of the Verdun sleeve to fit it. The third one I made short-sleeved out of a beautiful rayon jacquard. The fit was a little tricky, as I measure for a size 8 and so I made that, but it was too tight. I added width to each side seam but kept the rest of the top as is. I love the style of this top with the v-neck and the gathers at the sleeve and back yoke. I gave it four instead of five stars due to the fit.

      First dress in linen

This isn't a style I would usually be drawn to let alone make, but I loved the look of the top - and instead made the dress! I have a pear shaped body, the shoulders and neckline are what drew me to the pattern and actually looks great too balance out my hips. I need to lower the bust darts, but other than that it fit perfectly and I get great feedback when I wear it out. The instructions are clear and easy to follow, the dress comes together simply. I'm looking forward to making the alteration and making the top (or 3) next.

Loved the style of this top - a bit different and the neckline fitted very well. It was a little big for me at the upper back but I do have narrow sloping shoulders. It was quick to make so I made another one straight away (and gave the first one to a friend who loved it) and made adjustments and love it. Already have another one planned and maybe a dress.
