Lightning McStitch replied to the topic Fairy Tale sizing help? Skip the darts? in the forum oliver + s: fairy tale 10 years ago
The best thing to do is probably to measure the flat pattern across the waistline. Without the darts will it give a big enough waistline?
It would be lovely to do them the same as your first.
I’m wary of the LTTS tutu as wedding attire due to the potential gap at the back. The apron style is perfect for dress ups but would not be a good look in church! -

Yours looks awesome Shelley @lightningmcstitch!! I just finished mine up in the wee hours of the morning, I still need to get the pants sewn up. I really love this shirt in all knit.

I’ve just started my zebra dress. I’ll round up some other pics from Flickr/Pinterest and get an inspiration post up on the blog to get us started. Now, I challenge anyone to come with a monotone/September catchy title!

Brittney replied to the topic Sleeves too short? in the forum oliver + s: school bus t-shirt 10 years ago
I have to lengthen the sleeves on this one, but my kids are tall for their age. When I made my son one without, it ended up being more of a 3/4 sleeve.

Sarvi replied to the topic How 'long' does the Tea Party Dress (18-24 mth) fit? in the forum oliver + s: tea party 10 years ago
Agree with the above! Wear for a long time with leggings. My daughter’s nearly 6 and her size 4s still fit, they’re just too short to wear without something underneath.

I’ve made one all in knit @mama_knowles it worked well. My collar topstitching wasn’t the neatest 🙂 but it’s ok.
It’s being worn right now and I’ll try and get it photographed today to go on my blog…. -

I haven’t made an all knit one yet, but I don’t see why it wouldn’t work. Just be careful that the collar and placket don’t stretch too much and distort.

I am getting ready to sew my first polo top and want to sew it all in knit and was wondering if anyone has tried this yet? It looks like it would work to me but not sure if I should dive into the good fabric yet?

Audrey started the topic Pleather collar and belt? Your thoughts? in the forum oliver + s: fairy tale 10 years ago
I’m wanting your thoughts on making the collar and belt (view b) from pleather. I’ve purchased a lightweight pleather. For the collar, I’m wondering if I should make it as written in the pattern, or eliminate the 2nd (under) collar and interfacing and have just one layer of collar? One time I made a collar from pleather using all the pieces…[Read more]

Jess M. replied to the topic Coverstitch Machine? in the forum off topic 10 years ago
You can do all that on a regular machine—for the most part. It does look a bit different though. I have never been happy with the way mine looked using my machines (and I highly suspect it’s my machines themselves….they are old and I’m due for an upgrade). I didn’t want to spend money on a high end serger w/ both options until I knew I…[Read more]

So I will ask dumb questions like this: can’t you just use a twin needle on a regular machine? Does this do something special???
What is the benefit on a separate machine?
Educate me, ladies!! Give me a reason to get another machine! 😉

So I am lusting after a coverstitch machine. (In case its different in Aus, I mean the twin needle hems you see on RTW tshirts) I already have a serger so it doesn’t necessarily need serging features.
I am eyeballing the Janome 1000cpx due to price, reviews etc, but wondered if there are others I should be open to?
