So awful, the first report I heard was that everybody was out, then the next report said two dead and more hospitalized. Just horrible.

Yay Masha, Go Hugo, Boo Sarvi… hope the machine is ok.
I hope no one is harmed in the hostage situation. I wondered if anyone here was nearby.
Yesterday we went to church and the lesson was all about being in the moment and taking a pause and not letting the secular overtake the season. Then we rushed home so I could finish his holiday…[Read more]

Difficult to determine the exact type of fabric but you’ll find something that looks similar in the bridal section of a fabric store.
A quick search say’s the dress designer is Christopher Lawrence and he found a vintage cut-out fabric (the circles) that he lay over the dress top and the hem section is airbrushed in a pattern he calls hidden…[Read more] -

All safe here….so terribly shocking and scary. Some hostages have been released, but others are still inside. It’s now been going for 13 hours…

How did it go Sarvi?
On a scarier note, I hope no one was caught up in the horrid situation in Sydney, AUS.

Yes, I’ve done the same thing, using the seam ripper as a tiny fingertip to nudge the fabric in place stitch by stitch, between the ‘toes’ of the presser foot.
You know, I was sewing a collar today, cut both halves at once so they started off exactly the same. Maybe it’s because one half was interfaced and the other not, maybe it’s because I’d…[Read more]

That does make sense about the Bistro, and I think the pockets might be optional — my friend has a terrific figure and I bet she’d be willing to forgo the pockets for something a little more fitted. I have plenty of time to look, my to-sew list is pretty long before I get to fitted garments for adults (who are not me!)

Hehe, that’s exactly why I ask, somebody requested one!If I could afford it I’d buy this one, the photos don’t come close to the real thing, it’s GORGEOUS in person. I bet a lot of it is done by hand:

Someone might suggest the Coco dress by Tilly and the buttons with the funnel neck option. If they do, don’t listen, I think it’s pretty poorly drafted.
There must be a vintage Vogue pattern that’s similar surely….
If you find it I’ll have a dress just like your daughter’s please. 🙂 -

Yes, I second Nicole. Looks like silk or fine cotton, with the circles embroidered on, and the backing fabric carefully cut away at the top.

I think the Bubble is the one I can do the fastest from start to finish — no terribly tricky seams, only a few buttons, fully lined so you needn’t be particular about a fussy seam finish, and if you use elastic you don’t have to hem it (and if you hem it, you don’t have to use elastic)! The ones where only the bodice is lined always seem to take…[Read more]
