Oh, a sewing play date sounds so nice. You could sew a Play Date to wear to the play date, even 🙂

Happy first birthday to little Josephine!

My baby girl is one month old today! Doesn’t seem like its been a month though – it just goes so fast.

I used to go to the local craft group when my eldest was little. It got too hard and some of the old ducks didnt cope well stitching around a toddler. So I stopped going until she started kindergarten…[Read more]

I redid the elastic in one leg of the heather ross bodysuit. Now we can wear it again!

Really? That makes me so happy, thank you!
PS (I love your name, I wanted a Mimi)

    @NCMimi, great idea.
I found we had to have a ‘system’ to get the Jumprope dress on my little girl, she had a big head.
She soon learned the ‘procedure’ 🙂

    I love your dress.

Have you folks looked into your local guilds? My city has a Modern Quilt Guild with regular sewing meetups in addition to the meetings. I don’t even quilt and still enjoy it. They give good information on machine maintenance, tools, upcoming fabric lines, etc. They also bring in special guests like Anna Maria Horner and Liesl. There’s something…[Read more]

I saw this advertised on Foxtel whilst I was in hospital. It looks fantastic, I wish we could get it. 🙁

I wonder if she found the shoulder fit a wee bit snug…..

I made this for my daughter and, as per usual, sized back and added length. It was a bit of a tug around the shoulders but fine once on.

Perhaps try a knit or a cotton poplin with some stretch?

That would keep me entertained for an afternoon, too, and I’m 42 🙂

@knitting1, you have the technique right, but your original photo is a bigger file than the fora can handle. Can you shrink it a bit? I use Picasa (which is a free download) to resize photos. Alternatively, you could upload the photo to flickr or another service and just post a link to the photo there. Looking forward to seeing it!

Fantastic tips, thank you so much! I think I was mixing up Magic Loop and 2 circs, it sounds as though the 2 circs method would work well for me. I had lots of straight needles when I first started knitting but now they feel so heavy and unwieldy. I am pretty comfortable on DPNs but can see how 2 circs would be really useful. I think Cat Bordhi…[Read more]

  • Really @Sarvi, that is so exciting, thank you!

I *finally* posted it off to its new owner.

A clever friend traced the line drawings from the back of a pattern to make coloring pages for her daughter to design her own dress — I’m thinking of doing the same. I have a few pieces of special fabric to go with some very pretty shoes I found for my daughter, and want to make a dress that doesn’t have to be practical, just beautiful. I thought…[Read more]

  • I’ll second the request for a pleat tutorial, thank you! I want to do the Jump Rope with a pleated skirt and emailed @lightningmcstitch for help, but I’ve gotten swamped since with other work and haven’t had a chance to take another crack at it.
