You know 89 is not a bad “innings”! He sounds as though he lead a rather fruitful life. Often it is the family occasions, happy and sad where family can really enjoy spending time with each other. I am so glad everything went smoothly. I expect it cannot be easy leaving your children to go on a trip for such a thing. I had no idea schools dictated…[Read more]

    Time to reactivate this thread….

There’s nothing that I would like more
Then to visit a distant shore
Lend a hand to a mate
    Who is learning to skate

  • Forty-five degrees Celsius?!? Is that for real? If it’s that hot outside, you wouldn’t need to cook the Bolognese on the stove. Just throw all the raw ingredients in a pot in the morning and set it outside in the sun for the day. By the time the sun goes down at night, you’ll have a finished sauce waiting for you!

    Stay cool.

  • I’m going to give this a crack! Thanks for sharing this Todd! I generally cook by feel also, even though there are recipe books in the house😜. It isn’t cooking weather right now (forecast a very hot 45 degrees c today) but I think bolognese cannot be reserved just for the cooler months. Add in a salad with what you have shared and I think we’d…[Read more]

Thankyou @dubhels2003. Imogen says to say thankyou to everyone who have sent messages of best wishes and support. Unfortunately last night she became ill at dinner and had to be collected by my sister to recouperate – they suspect gastro but because it was over 40 degrees c in Perth (47 here!) I think it may actually be heat stroke.

    As for your…[Read more]

  • Here’s a little Liesl + Co. secret. I do all the company’s cooking.

One of the things I like to do on days when I can work from home (which is most days now in Madrid) is make a good Bolognese sauce. I spent today making my famous “All Day Bolognese,” and @admin asked me for my recipe.

I never use recipes; I cook by feel. So I wrote up for him…[Read more]

Heidi I think the design is interesting and just by looking at the pattern, I am expecting them to sew up easily and fast. I will have to ask Imogen her thoughts on fit and ease of wear etc because they are for her. I will never fit into the size range possibly ever – possibly.

So one is cut out and the next is ready to be cut and both will be…[Read more]

  • I’ll be interested to hear your thoughts on the Tania culottes, I’ve been eyeing the pattern ever since they came out but I was so far out of the size range at the time that I didn’t even bother. Finally my waist is in the sizing, so it’s on my “thinking about” list.
I’ve just finished a lullaby jacket from fleece with matching footie pants from…[Read more]

I have finally managed the time to cut out the first (of a few) Tania culottes, a Megan Nielsen pattern. I’m doing the short version for my eldest – because I only bought two metres of fabric – the small size does fit btw but with pattern fiddling and my fabric is only 112cm wide so no doubling up.

Now to see if I have the right sized zipper….

It would be a fabulous excuse to look at more ideas and patterns to fit your new body then Heidi! Congratulations on your weightloss. I am looking forward to shedding some kilos also but I find that nursing keeps my weight even so I believe this whole breastfeeding will help shed kilos theory is non existent. So it is still a fact that every…[Read more]

  • That’s great to hear the positive feedback 🙂 Espically after struggling all summer to even get her to look at patterns.
I’m struggling with pattern fitting for myself. I’ve lost weight, which is great but now none of my TNT patterns fit! I’m trying to fit a pattern for bathers shorts and I am not finding it easy 🙁
Time to put it aside for the…[Read more]
