I do a little embroidery, I am not very good but I muddle along. I used to smock but I went off that.
I love silk embroidery thread and I like to press my threads before stitching with them.
I want to learn to knit so badly, that is on my sewing bucket list.
I think a wee boys outfit, hand made, top to toe would be perfectly adorable.
Thanks…[Read more]

I know a lot of people here are into knitting, crochet, embroidery, and other complementary-to-sewing crafts. I thought it might be fun to have a little nook of our own.
Some of my favorite knitting patterns are from Brooklyn Tweed, so when they finally came out with a children’s collection I was thrilled. I’ve made one cardigan already and was…[Read more]

I was thinking about this earlier today, and aside from all the stuff we usually talk about — the fine finishes, the quality of instruction, etc. — the thing that really makes O+S stand out to me is the eye for proportion. With the exception of adding a small amount of length to get extra months of wear from patterns I know will work that way…[Read more]

Just had a peek — yum! My favorite soup uses kaffir leaves and galangal, your curry looks delicious and I love fresh spices.

I think even a lot of people who are not veg/vegan themselves are very interested in incorporating more vegetables. I look forward to checking your blog!

I understitched a collar on the wrong side so instead of laying flat, it stands straight up!

Jay, I hope you adjust soon. What an adventure.
Jenny, enjoy your sewing space. I hope young Missy (Gigi? love that name) likes her new room.

Dubhels I would probably leave it. There’s a whole tribe of long stitch is best sewers out there, or I’d just stitch over with a shorter stitch length. Not that I’ve ever done that…. certainly not often enough to have a contingency plan already in place. 🙂
What I’d love is a sewing machine that made a beeping sound like a reversing truck when…[Read more]

Oh Nicole…. we are good. I wanted to give @justsewit some support, some hugs.
The stats on maternal mortality around the world are truly terrifying. We are so lucky to live in this world today, compared to even a few generations ago, when pregnancy and delivery were truly life threatening.
@nicole, you are clearly one of those glowy…[Read more]

So true Sarvi. I have very easy pregnancies but PE at the end. Many woman and babies died from that. I am so grateful to be born in this era.
I am so grateful for my brood, my SIL has been on IVF for 17 years, she would give anything for a child.
