Sew Alongs 10 years ago@Cathbe, the best way to determine whether you need the twill tape (which I would actually recommend even if you don’t “need” it) is to check the stretch from selvedge to selvedge. If it stretches or if the fabric is quite heady you’ll almost certainly want it. I hope that helps!

Sew Alongs 10 years agoI have not had a chance to upload the pattern of the larger size for advice on the cut out. Hopefully, I will do that in the next day or so.
I have the Carolina Herrera Double-Faced Wool Coating fabric, the salmon-beige-orange like color, one of the ones you recommended (a fluke that I have it; it was a surprise).
Would you think I need the 1/4…[Read more]

Sew Alongs 10 years agoAh, that makes me so happy, @mychurchdoll! I’m headed to Paris in a few weeks–maybe I’ll get to wear mine, too! It’s been too warm here to wear it so far. Can’t wait to see photos, everyone! xo
And @sanitystitches, I completely understand the fear of heat with wool. I’ve found that the wool setting on the iron is absolutely perfect, and if you…[Read more]

Sew Alongs 10 years agoThe Lisette B6244 coat went to Paris this past week on my DIL. It suited her for the plane travel as well as the late October temperature in Paris.
I can’t wait to try another one.
Hoping the photo attached this time. -

Sew Alongs 10 years agoI think it went a little slowly for me because I was timid with the iron. This was my first project with wool and I was was afraid to be too heavy handed with the heat. I was more confident by the time I got to the hemming and that part went very well. If you are thinking about giving this pattern a try, I highly recommend it. EVERY time I…[Read more]

Sew Alongs 10 years agoThat sounds like a fantastic solution, @mychurchdoll! I was also thinking that a bias binding could be really pretty and simple for a very thick fabric that won’t cooperate with hemming.
