Hi. Wow. I’ve been so busy that I’ve become a lurker!
So I’m looking for a pattern suggestion. I just didn’t feel like starting a new thread.
Gigi informed me that she wants to shop and do rtw. (Gasp). Today we went out for some shorts and to look. She lost interest quickly. Lol
Why? She would finger fabrics, make moue over their quality…[Read more]

I watched it all the way through and may actually go back and re-watch from the beginning. I must say, I feel like some of the sewing was not as good as it has been in previous years. Just my opinion! To me, there was no clear front-runner. Definitely, I was kind of surprised at the outcome – my daughter actually screamed “Nooooooo” when her…[Read more]

What did people think of the series, have you watched it to the end? I’m convinced that you guys sponsor Tracy!

There’s some pretty complex sewing going on what with jeans, prom dresses and denim jackets!
I hope you manage to sort out a layette pic Susan, it’s such a lovely pattern. I’m going to lengthen a couple of bodysuits for my tall, slender nearly 3 year old. I’m a huge fan of french seams too, seems very appropriate on tender baby skin.
I’ve just…[Read more]

They pick up on so much, it’s a mirror into your own language and behaviour sometimes!
E has been in my sewing room with me today. She was playing at wrapping up a present for daddy. I asked what she wanted to wrap, and she said a pattern and some buttons. I said she could choose both. She got the buttons and after looking on my patterns she got…[Read more]

Sewing for Yourself 9 years agoIs there a particular Lisette fabric you’re looking for? I’m not sure if you’re looking for the ones sold originally at JoAnn Fabric, which I think are out of stock, or the most recent collection, Woodland Clearing, which is not part of the Lisette line (but in my opinion has a nicer feel to it, I have tried both).
If it were me, I would do my…[Read more]

I reckon I could find you a hot pink zipper!
Worth an enquiry to these guys http://www.lzf.com.au/ as they have a huge range and will cut to required length etc. I’ve used them for single zips before.
(otherwise, my answer to your question would be black. White would be very 1980s and grey a bit reminiscent of a Galah :)) -

I’m working my magic with fabric,
Of a colour described as “drab brick”
It’s not easy to sew
So I’m taking it slow -

I just took my kids out to my parents in the country for a couple of nights while it’s school holidays and we’re working.
The five year old was busy all morning writing notes and letters for her grandparents to give them when she got there. All notes started with “dear grand… and grand…” And finished with “love from A… by A…”
In the middle…[Read more] -

Rachel Le Grand replied to the topic Quilted jacket in the forum oliver + s: lullaby 9 years ago
@libloucks, there is definitely more than one way to make the quilted jacket, but here is what I did… First I made the quilted fabric with 3 layers: fabric, batting, fabric. Then I cut out the pattern pieces. I cannot remember if I used organic cotton batting or white fleece for that particular piece. Quilting the fabrics first did change a…[Read more]

The link is perfect @libloucks took me straight there. Might look different to you as you’re logged in and your post may appear differently.
I’ll put my five cents worth in before Rachel answers…
If you used one layer quilting cotton and one layer of bamboo or cotton wadding then I think it would sew up fine and not be too bulky.
Alternately,…[Read more] -

@libloucks, can you give a link to the one you’re referring to? I’m trying to remember which blog post this was and it’s not coming to mind. A quick search hasn’t helped, either.

Emily, our patterns are sold for personal, noncommercial use only. We ask that people not make and sell items from them for personal profit. But not everyone gets that message….
