Also not a dealbreaker, but when I read from my phone the right margin of the post bleeds off the edge where I can’t see it. I tried to shrink my screen, no luck. It’s just off the edge. I use a Galaxy S5 so the scene is plenty large.

This is not something wrong, but just how something works — might be useful to others. I had a list of notifications, a mixed bag of replies to threads I’d posted in and friendship requests. I clicked ‘read’ on the friendship requests in order to read them — but that marks them as already-read. I wasn’t quite sure how to find them again to…[Read more]

I inherited Robin’s, yes! And immediately switched over to her method. She keeps the tracings in one of those large paper envelopes that will hold 8.5 x 11 sheets of paper unfolded. One envelope per tracing size, with her notes on each envelope about whether she adds length, any errata. It’s a great system and I don’t execute it as well as she…[Read more]

I tried to adopt ‘pop’ because I thought it sounded sort of cool and James Dean-ish, like somebody from an S.E. Hinton novel (or more specifically, from one of the Coppola films) but I couldn’t get it to stick. It’s really interesting to see how my kid’s idiolect is developing. She’s familiar with so many phrases and characters from shows she’s…[Read more]

We always did jinx as Karen did, you couldn’t talk, you could stop the jinx by saying ‘stop’ before the person counted to ten. Then you couldn’t be un-jiinxed until your name was said 3 times. My kids do the soda pop one too, though they cheat and count to ten as ‘one, two, nine ten’.
And we say soda, though about half the time soda pop.

@miss_sonja – yes, it’s Cape Ann – I am such a dag 😉 – I have another piece to make a new cover for my overlocker too
And I also agree re the storing of the Liesl & Co PDFs – they are tricky – since they are not one huge sheet like my other PDFs, they don’t fit in with my rolled up storage system. I think that I shall emulate Nicole and start…[Read more]

I live in the Northwest part of the US and most people call it pop.
My kids would argue you into the ground that “jinx buy me a coke/soda/pop” isn’t real or long standing. It is in their world!

In South Australia it is generally a ‘soft’ drink or a ‘softie’. Our family calls it ‘fizzy’.
I.E Saturday night is ‘fizzy’ night. -

Todd and I grew up in the Midwest where it’s called pop, too. Had to adjust when we moved east!
