If you’re using a curly edge knit I wonder if it wouldn’t be worse to have the seam allowances raw…
Personally I can’t leave knits unfinished or unhenmed. Just me, but I strive for my homemade stuff to be worthy in craftmanship of shop bought, if not better.
But then I use an overlocker/serger for knit sewing, so my sewing and finishing is one…[Read more] -

Seam allowances are included.
In the written instructions it will tell you that they’re 1/2″ (as per every Oliver + S pattern.
Be aware that many of us find the hat runs small compared to the suggested age, but quite true to the measured size. Make sure you measure your kids noggin. If in any doubt I’d say go up a size. -

Ugh @justsewit hope you’re better soon.
I’ve finished and photographed the Galactica Space Invaders cross stitched Metro T-shirt. It’s on my blog here: http://bartacksandsingletrack.blogspot.com.au/2015/05/when-i-asked-what-he-wanted-for-his.html -

I made a Carousel dress for Liddy (11),today.
I used sand coloured velvet/uncut cord (not sure what it is) with red topstitching. It has quite a medieval feel to it.

Just a tip — if you post these changes in the caption of the photo, they will be more easily available for anybody who searches the flickr pool for inspiration and comes across your dress. You can include notes about what size you made and what fabric you used as well, people often are curious about that.

I am sorry Masha.
If it is any comfort, the moonboot offers a lot of support. Jed polished all our timber floors wearing one.All the best with the birth, I will be thinking of you.

Sewing for Yourself 11 years agoI love the Gallery so much, I just wish it was a two piece collar. I can see it becoming another Portfolio dress. Hunted down and sort after.
The Maritime is divine, such a slimming and flattering style.
The skirt is so cute, I am concerned how it will look on me as I have a very thick waist and poochy tummy but I love it.
I can see how much…[Read more]

Sewing for Yourself 11 years agoI can definitely see myself making all three. The skirt will probably come first, especially if I can make it fit onto a remnant of thick wool jersey that I have. I think it will make a smashing winter skirt.
The maritime top will undoubtedly get made, but I may already be at saturation point with my store bought St James tops. But at the price…[Read more] -

Sewing for Yourself 11 years agoThanks, Sarvi and Cat! Courtney, the skirt is designed to sit at your natural waist, but it’s really a matter of your preference. Just like if you tried things on at a store, you get to decide how you want to wear your clothing. If you prefer it to sit a little lower, that’s up to you. Mine sits at my belly button or slightly lower, yes.

I LOVE both tops and if this month were not so insanely busy I’d have ordered and made them already. I absolutely love the Maritime top, it’s one of my favorite styles and I have a few that all have something sligh…[Read more]

Sewing for Yourself 11 years agoHey all, I asked Todd to create this group so we’d have a place to easily discuss sewing for ourselves. So first question: feedback on the new Liesl + Co patterns? Are these styles you want to sew for yourself?
