It has been a productive few days.
I swopped mending, for a box of veg, so the Twins have been taking care of the meals with their a m a z i n g soups.I finished the nurses capes, for ANZAC costumes, for Elsie’s teacher, made 28 draw string bags, for skipping rope storage, for Tildy’s teacher and today I sewed a pair of Bedtime Story pj’s as a…[Read more]

Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your point of view), there’s not really such a thing as one-stop shopping in NYC. We have such a broad variety of options here, it’s impossible to put it all in one place. Like Sarvi said, it really depends on what you’re hoping to find. If you’re looking for a broad variety of quilting cottons try City…[Read more]

April, stitch the first row of basting along the line you transferred, just as it says in the instructions. The dot shows where to begin and end the basting/gathering so the gathers won’t continue into the side seam or seam allowances. It’s been a long time since I wrote this pattern, but looking at it now it appears that the dot really could have…[Read more]

If someone would like to write a tutorial on the chevron method (the V without the cross-over), I’d be so thrilled. It’s on my To Do list, but it’s not rising to the top anytime soon, I fear.

I don’t use the cross over method, too bulky. I cut a triangle out of each end and sew and turn. Perfect’V’.

The trick is in the neck binding. The join is sewn in a ‘V’ to give you the neat finish.

I would love a Liesl + co raglan tee. I have tried two other patterns out there in PDF land and I just know L+C would fit so much better. Sigh.

I absolutely second @justsewit – I would absolutely make both items for me (and my husband) to wear; maybe not together, but I would definitely wear a polo for work (in fact, I do quite often), and my husband does as well – and my husband and I both live in sweats in the house.

When you leave a clothing store empty handed because you could make it better/higher quality.
(Stripes and patterns not lining up in RTW drive me insane!)

@April Henry, I am planning on making this soon in the size 8 as part of a sewing swop. I have 27 drawstring bags to make for the school and it is next, after that project.

Someone asks your child where they got their dress/trousers/shirt from and they look blankly at the questioner and answer slowly …. ‘My mum’ ….

Hallo April!
I am a bit tired today,( Trixie had jabs yesterday and didn’t sleep that well last night) but if I link to my blog post http://fiveandcounting-motherof5.blogspot.com.au/2014/03/the-garden-party-tutorial-part-one.html maybe you can see the notches in that?
I am sorry not to be more help….. I am a wee bit fuzzy headed today.
