I want to make some shorts for an 18 month old boy. My friend likes to put her boy in short shorts because she likes his “chubby thighs”! Stubbies http://www.stubbies.co.nz/about-us/ were very popular in New Zealand and Australia in the 70’s and I’d like to recreate something similar for my friend. So, has anyone put a boy in this pattern or are…[Read more]

I was planning on entering the swingset sew-along and contest. I sewed two skirts for my friend’s 5 year old. For the first one I used a pretty blue Lisette fabric and lined it with a matching aqua voile. For the next one I used a denim and appliquéd flowers in rainbow colours on the bottom edge. I used a pink voile for the lining. A Boden…[Read more]

@lightningmcstitch, I’m sure you are!!💪🏻💪🏻 I’m going for a conference but with a bit of imagination there could be something in it for you:
“The difficult airway: no larynx in view, now what do I do?”; “obstructive sleep apnea and ambulatory surgery”; “problems in geriatric anesthesia”; and “anaesthetic neurotoxicity: can we reduce the…[Read more] -

I’m going to NYC for a week in mid-December although I imagine I will have to rely on your recommendations for great shops. I love Purl Soho and the garment district and can’t wait to look for the button shop Sarvi mentioned…

I made two flower girl dresses 3 years ago with tulle over the top of the silk skirts. I used a pattern from another company but the fairytale dress could be easily modified to have the tulle over the top of the main skirt. I used an invisible zip in the back but can’t remember what I did with the tulle. I can have a look at my photos and the…[Read more]

JWo replied to the topic Parachute Polo Sew Along in the forum Sew Alongs 9 years ago
I have posted a picture in the Flickr group. This was a fun little top to sew. I had matching knit and voile fabrics in the stash as well as matching thread and snaps so I was able to sew this up tonight (New Zealand time).
I haven’t had a chance to wash the top yet as I wanted to post this before the deadline.I plan to make a few more of these.

@vothgirl, I’m left-handed too and my grandmother taught me to knit almost 40years ago. Mostly I sat opposite her and copied her right-handed knitting but occasionally we used a mirror. It seemed like a great idea at the time but, like you have found, there are fewer resources for lefties. That makes things so much more difficult and frustrating!…[Read more]

Yes Sarvi, a knitters’ club would be great!
I’m overseas and away from my sewing machines again but have been quite productive with my knitting needles during these cold Italian evenings. The knitting is always a good time filler during long-haul flights plus you have something to show at the end of 24+ hours. - Load More
