This is where we used to get notchers (and most other pattern making supplies) when I worked in the industry. http://mrecht.com.au/haberdashery/design-and-pattern-room-accessories/pattern-notchers/pattern-notcher/
I don’t own any personally, but they were very useful when making patterns in card.

If you have a large enough swatch left, you could try washing and machine drying a sample (mark a 10cm or 4″ square with permanent marker first). Then you’ll be able to see how much shrinkage you’ll get.

Thanks everyone for your kind thoughts. I’m still struggling to come to terms with it, but spending time in Australia will help I’m sure.
RTWG – Coverstitch machines definitely do a more durable hem, and that’s what you would get on a bought pair. I have the Janome Coverpro (currently in storage in Australia), but I have barely used it as I don’t…[Read more]

Thanks Nicole, I will enjoy it despite the reason for going. I wasn’t expecting to see my family until October next year, so it will be lovely to have a whole month with them.
Despite nothing saying so on their website, Hancock was closed for Easter Sunday, so we will go tomorrow instead. I’ve spent the afternoon dozing on the couch while Audrey…[Read more]

I finished sewing Audrey’s Roller Skate dress this morning so she could wear it to Mass. She’s gone with daddy, but I’m home with Josephine trying to get well from a cold before I fly back to Australia next weekend.
I’ll try to get some photos when they get home.I’ve got inspired about a new Spring-y skirt for myself, but I don’t have any fabric…[Read more]

Oh no, Cybele. What an awful time to be going through *hugs*
I am not having a good time myself. My best friend died on Tuesday. She had ovarian cancer for four years and has been fighting every step of the way.
We found out a couple of weeks ago that she was stopping treatment, as the cancer was not responding to the chemo, and I made plans to…[Read more] -

I finished the cot rail protectors yesterday. Yay! Boring stuff finished and I can go on with more fun things.
I cut out Audrey’s Super Cape yesterday, as well as the Roller Skate dress. I also have some seersucker lined up for a shirred romper for Josephine, but I need to measure her before I cut it out.I’ve been enjoying using my new sewing…[Read more]

We’re about to go to the fabric store to get some lining for the roller skate dress. Chris just said to Audrey:
“Are you ready to go out? We’re going to Hancock’s.”And Audrey’s reply: “I don’t like to go to Hancock’s, how about I stay here instead?”
Oh dear. My three year old wants to stay home by herself!

Decision made, I’m going roller skate. Decision so final that I bought the digital pattern, and Chris has printed it at work.
