Thank you @liesl Gibson , I will, it was a lot of fun.

My favourite moment was one of the uncles dragging Hugo’s old go-cart up and down the track with passenger after passenger while 30 odd whooping children ran after them, like a noisy parade.

The no gifts/bring a salad worked beautifully. The mix of delicious food was wonderful and we ate the…[Read more]

  • I have never lengthened a skirt that much Charlene but I would consider adding length in two places. I would divide the the panel into thirds and add the length at these lines.
Does that make sense? So you don’t end up with too exaggerated an A-line.

    It is a lovely skirt.

  • But I love the idea of pyjamas and holiday wear, can’t wait to see all those adorable/gorgeous things everyone makes! What are people planning? I think I might go for red plaid/tartan (what’s the difference? I think somebody asked before) this year, and flannel pyjamas.

  • Haha, Heidi, your tablet is so cheeky!

I confess that I feel unable, with all my grey hair, to say ‘linky party’ with a straight face. These internet catchphrases are a bit past my time, or should I say, past my timey-wimey, haha.

Thank you all so much for your advice and help. I made the cake and saved a small fortune!

@Ann-Maree, I used your excellent idea of two cakes. Whilst Hugo and Co were making speeches and ‘cutting the cake’ a good friend and I were cutting and plating up the other cake, close by.
By the time speeches were done, cake was ready to be eaten.

    Thank you!

  • I have a lot of Christmas sewing planned, whether I get there is another thing.
Is it just me or does ‘linky party’ bug anyone else? Even my Macbook doesn’t want to type it.

    Link up party, maybe?

Hello Lovelies, so nice to read that people are sewing.

Tilly received a last minute 6th Birthday invite and the little girls mother asked me to sew something so nicely, I couldn’t say no. She requested something ‘Kardashian’ style and it took a wee bit of research (by the Twins) to find out that there is a children’s label.

    Luckily, I had a…[Read more]

Hang in there, @dubhels2003 ! Lively babies grow up to be determined people, I think, and as tough as it is now, you’ll never have to worry about anybody pushing her around later in life 🙂

What a nuisance for your fabric to arrive with blemishes, I just hate it when that happens. Glad you were able to fit the pieces in just same!

Ooh, I would love to hear more about your theatre work! My daughter’s ballet school puts on performances at a local theater and they recruit family members who can sew to make their own costumes in house. (My daughter’s not performing, but I love theatrical and film costuming and am always amazed at what they turn out)

  • Oh, what a pretty dress on such a pretty little girl! You’re a wonderful friend to put so much into this, and you can really see in her smile how great she feels. Well done!

I’ll be watching this thread with interest. I have only used rayon once, for the skirt of a dress with a cotton bodice. I had to wash it as I’d dyed it with indigo, and thereafter I machine washed it along with other cottons. I have probably machine dried it by accident once or twice (kids’ clothes always sneak in there) but usually line dry. It…[Read more]

  • Well done, you should feel very proud.

  • @motherof5 Nicole, yes I found it in the ‘free from’ section of my supermarket along with all the other special diet ingredients. I know it is in health food shops as well.
I really enjoyed the cake and didn’t miss the sugar. My husband said it wasn’t sweet enough for him. But he has 3 sugars in his tea and sugar on his cereal so his expectations…[Read more]
