Different children settle at different ages. Liddy took a long time to sleep through the night. She would wake up and miss me.

How about washable fabric pen/chalk for marking off patterns, measuring tape, quilting ruler (again, for marking straight lines on fabric, such as for a pillowcase), one of those needle threaders like so:

For posterity’s sake, this issue was due to a minor labeling error on the initial release of the pattern. Details can be found here:

Finished waist too small

The issue has been corrected now and future downloads of the pattern will be of the revised version.

The pattern has now been corrected to show the correct size labels on the center front and center back pleats.

If it’s a behavioral (i.e. not medical) issue, there are nightlights that visually show the child when they’re supposed to stay in bed vs when it’s time to get up – a moon lights up for stay-in-bed time, and you can program the built-in timer to switch to lighting up a sun when it’s ok for them to get up. Could it be that she is just not yet ready to sleep independently? Could you put her bed in your room or let her sleep with you? It sounds like you are a source of comfort and security for her.

Summer cleaning and Christmas parties have whacked my sewing time with a big stick.

I do a similar method to Deb but I pin the darts on the outside, then mark the lines on the inside with tailors chalk and transfer the adjustments to the inside.

The same as Deb, this is my method, not necessarily a correct method.

I have not done enough fitting to help you with your particular problem.

Perhaps get the dress on your daughter (inside out) before unpicking anything so you can play around by pinching dart and other areas first to see exactly where some re-construction is needed. That’s what I would do.
Then unpick the darts you mentioned if necessary, re-try on and pin to fit.

I haven’t made this dress. However when I’ve made a dress that needs some fine tuning, I turn it inside out, put it on the wearer and then pin like crazy making new darts, or wider side seams or raising shoulder seams – whatever the dress needs to make it fit better by using pins.
After the pinning process, mark those areas with wash out…[Read more]
