Patricia, thank you, that is just what I was after.
So, you went with her height (+ extra) and that was plenty long enough? Her height, 3T, would have been perfect now? -

I just finished a size 2T yesterday! Ellie’s measurements are pretty similar: waist 12-18m or 18-24m, hips 18-24m, height 3T+. I made the 2T and just added length to the bottom panels. If I wanted them to fit perfectly right now, I would’ve only added about an inch (I added 3″). I made the elastic in the waist a bit loose too, it won’t fall down…[Read more]

I have had “personality clashes” with machines before! I feel your pain!
It sounds like your machine is suffering some sort of complex or disorder cybele. The sooner you get a “diagnosis” the better and then it can go to therapy and you can get sewing on something considered “sane” again. Yes! Take the deal and run, it seems like a good one.
Ok,…[Read more]

I am about to draft these off for Tildy. I would like them to fit now, not too bothered about growth room as I have Trixie to hand them down to.
Her height puts her in a 4 but her waist puts her in a 12-18 mnth. Her hip aligns to the 18-24 mnth.
I am leaning towards the size 2T with the length of a 4 but will they be impossibly baggy? Is there…[Read more]

Thanks ladies! I haven’t started the sewing yet. I pulled out the blue “love” fairytale dress last night to see if it would still fit but I was met with grumpy preteen sounds. Just trying to save time when it all seems to be rushing and there never seems to be enough time inbetween the millions of things that have to be done (even though…[Read more]

Making costumes for free is such fun
But the moment that I have begun
I wish that I hadn’t
Because I’m a pedant
For the direction, the faux fur, will run.(Dedicated to Mel http://oliverands.com/community/forums/topic/alterations-advice )

Tamara, I am sorry for your loss.
Helen, good luck with your sewing. You will love the Lullaby. We had a day out yesterday and Trixie is very unsettled so I am hand sewing with a baby on my boob.

It really is Becky.
I have to admit I made a mistake in my first version as I assumed I knew what I was doing (blush).
I have a soft spot for this dress, I look forward to seeing your version. -

University is the place of higher learning at which you earn your degree (or not 😉 )
As per Sarvi there are schools for each area: Law school, veterinary science etc.
College is the hall of residence that you can choose to live at if you’re from out of town.
This may, or may not have been typed from the loo…. -

🙂 I love that feeling too Becky.
You can’t envisage where you’re going but you trust the instructions and it just works. The Croquet dress was definitely one of those for me. -

Do you see a ‘trash’ button, cybele? I dumped the one blank post for you. I think you just need to resize your image and re-upload, or else you can host it on flickr and link to that image.

I think like so? Sorry, didn’t have a sewing related pic in the first page of my flickr results and didn’t want to do the endless scroll thing. Max file…[Read more]

The school I went to is called a university, and within it are schools, grouped by discipline. So it’s the University of X, and has the Y Dental School, the Z Business School, etc. I think that’s common in the US, but don’t know if it’s standard. My Uk friends seem to have gone to Universities with colleges within them, but you can study for…[Read more]
